I had the choice of going into town on the last Saturday before Christmas, or clean the ovens.

I didn't have to think for long, sleeves rolled up, chemicals at the ready. Let battle commence.

Get that Turkey Stuffed Colin. The pork with crackling going. Parsnips & sprouts ready. Roast potatoes in goose fat.

And down to a good old cholesterol party on Christmas Day.

Doctors the day after Boxing Day for a check up. Na wait until after New Years Day 2015.

Know what you mean about the shopping, but there'd be no point me cleaning the oven 'cos I'd have nowt to put in it!

What I have always done to save cleaning my oven is to layer tin foil on the bottom, I have never used the grill so have covered one of the oven's shelves with foil and put that on the highest shelf notch, the sides and back are supposed to be self cleaning so have never had to touch them and the glass on the door is the only thing I have to wipe down now and then, and once a month I'll put some water and fairy liquid into my roasting dish and pop that in the oven for about 20 minutes, so it sort of steam cleans itself... ;)

Andy...

This time of the year people out shopping lose there manners. I hate town as it is like a free for all they see what they want and will push/barge past you to get to it.

I wonder how many blokes reading this will be thinking......

"what's an oven? "

:-) :-) :-) :-)

I don't wonder at all. I know it is a metallic box with a glass door and lives in something called a kitchen, a device that the wife uses...

It's the white thing that keeps the beer cold isn't it?
Terry, I am sorry mate but have to stop you there, every bloke knows the big white thing that beers go into and then come out of cold. It has to be the one kitchen item that 99% of blokes know and use on a regular bases.

Youch you have it all wrong Andy. I have Pauline for all that. Saves a lot of effort. She is magnificent I often watch her during this process

I can see you don't get involved in the weekly shopping - that's normal behaviour for shoppers every week!

I'm done. I've used more chemicals than the Geneva convention covers, all is sparkly and clean, now, where's that bird. It was a long hard slog - but the wife and kids returned with beer and wine, I am rewarded o_O

i too had the wonderful choice of tailing around the dragon through the heaving masses today. i managed to slay the dragon by ordering a new three piece suite online. this not only gets me out of buying any gifts for xmas,,,,jewellry, bath salts etc but also comes with matching footstool and 1.350 trumpeteer uss oliver destroyer.

Not *this* bloke.

I am the chef in our house, and I am pretty good at it as well. All things aside my wife washes the dishes we dirty up. It's a system that's been working well for us for 7 years now...
