Hi guys, here is one of four projects I'm working on at the moment...you've seen the WIP of the Floaty USS Buckley on it's base.
I have longed to build up one of these variants of the Sdkfz 10 mounting the 5cm Pak 38. At the time there wasn't a Pak 38 kit when I acquired an ESCI kit of the Sdkfz 10. They only had an AM kit available and it was beyond my reach. Then years later Dragon produced the Pak 38. I proceeded with whatever references I had for the conversion even without the internet that hadn't been introduced yet. Everything was eyeballed and by the time I got to the rubber tracks it was so old it broke in a few places. Trying to attach these flexible tracks killed my momentum for the build so it went to the shelf of doom...moth balled. It didn't occur to me that I could have just cut the links separately and glue them with epoxy like link and length tracks that later was the fad for some manufacturers. I have since saved the tracks without spending more on Fruil metal tracks.
Sorry to say no customary sprue shots and it's almost built up minus the final details and stowage.

Dirt and mud will hide any glue marks seen here. I will need to add a tread pattern on the gun floor and knock up some ammunition shells and crates, jerry cans, tarpaulins and bedrolls that the crew would tie down. It's got to look lived in. Not much is needed for the Pak 38...a good paint job and weathering will bring out the details. With the internet now I can look for camo schemes for this vehicle.
This will end up as a single vehicle display like the self propelled tracked artillery piece with a ridiculous long name that I did for MALCOM before Covid. You can find that thread here. I will need to resize the images for it though.
Cheers,
Wabble
