So, ive had my vasectomy and am now sitting at home resting my plums and looking at models for sale on eBay, and i keep coming across pro-built completed models for sale, now dont get me wrong, they are good, and some make good money, but i have seen much better on these forums.

Which leads me to my question, do any of you sell your treasures to make room for /or to finance new projects?

Ooops..... Mr moderator, please delete one of these threads, dont know what happened:oops:

Ive sold completed models on E-bay before Amos. Like yourself I was looking at model kits one day and saw some completed ones for sale , I was at first a bit bemused why anyone would want to buy a built model but then i saw how much some of them were selling for and they werent very well made either! So I gave it a try and put a few on , they all sold and the buyers were delighted , and I got some more dosh for more kits!! I was still curious and messaged one of the buyers to see if he was satisfied . He told me that alot of people either havent got the time to build or the skill or both but that they like to collect and display them. I havent sold any for a while but wouldnt rule it out in the future , tony

May be putting some on soon as I need more space as the wife is starting to moan about shelf space.

I have sold 3 or 4 of my Dio's before & they payed for my next build.

Yep, sold some, I never say that they are pro-painted-I always say for folk to view the pictures as these make up part of the description. I mainly sell just make room, never make loads on them, in fact sometimes I only just cover the costs of the materials, even had a loss or two but it means I have the space and can get something else to ruin.

The thing is that although some do make good money, they are few, most folk want them for nothing.

After all the time I spend building my models I just cannot part with them. They mean to much to me even my first build a Tiffy Typoon not so hot in the skills at that time.

I only build those which mean something and I have a reason to build them. I normally find out all I can about them the history . So they become to me precious. Every now and then I look them over and they bring back memories not only building them but what I was doing at that stage in my life.

So none are for sale.

Matter of interest what do they go for ;) . May say that that is not going to change my mind.

Depends Laurie, have seen 1/35 dios with figures going for £300+ some sell, some don't, dios are funny things to sell as folk don't always have the room so certain ones can sit there or make very little. A stand alone 1/35 tank armour piece can go for £20+ average for a good one £50+, like I said depends on the build and subject.

I've sold a few over the years, but it's very hit and miss. Seems it's the subject matter that sells, rather than the quality in many cases. Buyers also seem to prefer 1/48 (this side of the pond anyway) and heavily weathered- clean, 1/72 builds are a much harder sell. And then packaging them is another problem. I've had pretty good success but a couple I mailed arrived in more bits than the original kits and I had to refund the costs.

I have only ever sold a few,and started with the female, predator that i was working on and showed to a sci-fi nut i know,

and he made a good offer so i said yes after a bit, then i have picked up commissioned work from him, being the old

horror movie one, have done Frankenstein, Erving as i call him, working on Dracula, and the creature from the black lagoon,

he is most happy with then ,and post,s them on facebook and what not,

but how long it will last i dont know,as i only have about 3 or so more old movie, guys to do werewalf, mummy,

unless he moves into like star wars and the other sci,-fi ones,im out of a job :(

I've never sold any of my builds on eBay, but I recently took on a commission to build two English Electric Lightning's. Hopefully they will arrive soon with all the extras and then I can start.

I can understand the sulaco going for that price as its a very hard kit to get hold of and if you do it will cost a bitBut the Canberra  I don't know what he's done to it to ask that price but if he gets it I'm putting mine on there as it looks exactly the same :D
Best put it on then...... Thats what he got;)

This was his description....

Xtrakit 1/72 Canberra PR9 Royal Air Force Recon Jet aircraft Pro built for a magazine with special markings decals. Pro built for a magazine with extras and new decals used from the Model Alliance range. This is a very rare opportunity to buy one of my models which has been built professionally for a magazine. It appeared in print for one of the top modelling magazines and is offered here for sale as I am wishing to clear out some of my 1/72 scale kits. The model has been painted in Gunze acrylics (Airbrushed) and weathered with oils. I have also done a full rivet job on this model. I am not going to pander to silly offers as I know what it is worth as it is , with the magazine article which is readily available it adds to the provenience of the model and therefore the value too.

I will send the model double packed to anywhere in the world insured at the buyers expense. I do not accept returns and will do everything to ensure that you receive the model as it should. I cannot be responsible for the post office and am also willing to do collections from me too.
