U. 216, a Type VII-D has just under gone a re-fit and is having shakedown trials in The Baltic Sea.

She was eventually sunk on 20th October 1942 by depth charges from a British Liberator aircraft.......all 45 crew died.

I have tried to create the boat going flat out on a calm sea.

The base is chipboard, painted in acrylic blues and greens, then the sea modelled in clear silicone using an old knife and a nail. The sub. is the Revell 1/144 boat.

I hope you approve of this offering and thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Ron

Superb model and great water effects, the pictures capture a superb scene very realistically. The model is very well painted and has that worn yet re-fit look.

Another winner Ron.

Si:)

Again Ron an awesome build really well presented well done :)

What scale is this as I've seen it on the back of one of my kits and thought about getting one :)

I can hear the theme from das boot ("U-96") in my head as I look at it. I'd say the only thing that takes me out of the illusion is the lack of a watch crew on the conning tower. That's it though...

Brilliant Ron, I think you might be getting the hang of this wet stuff !

Thanks Si and Alan.

Alan, the boat is 1/144 scale...the hull measures about 19"

Ian, yes I do.....

Steve, the Captain has ordered a crash dive and the bridge has been cleared of all personnel.....!

Thank you Colin, nice one. I'm glad you like the model.

Thanks again for your input chaps.

Works for me. ;)
Nice one Steve......I actually did buy some 1/144 scale figures for this boat, but when they arrived they were way, way too small.

That's a splendid build and I love the sea you've created for the U-boat. Top work!

ron thats brill. my grandad died through one of these v11 u boats. hms exmouth 1940. just cant bring myself to make the dio i know i want to. water effects are just superb mate...bloody love it ron.

As always a fantastic build, I would love to able to get water effects like that. Perhaps a space could be made for you to teach us step by step, that's if you wouldn't mind?

Very nice one Ron.

I specially like this dark colour on the water, it's the best touch!

Very nice Ron a lot of work. Think those shots down low at almost sea level are very very realistic.

Say Ron how about one under the water now !
