Hi everyone - like so many of you, I'm just getting back into the hobby after over fifty years. I had a quick warm-up with 1:72 Airfix Spitfire, but now I'm working on the Tamiya 1:48 Mosquito FB MkVI.

If I was certain I was going to build further models after this, I'd spring for an airbrush. But if this is my last, that'd be a waste of money. So my question is: how good a result might I get if I just use the Tamiya rattle cans (as recommended in the Tamiya instructions)? I appreciate I would of course have to mask carefully. I've already tried them on a couple of small parts and the results are good.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Its all in the prep

Lightest colours first......make sure the mask is properly down......id even seal the edges with Clear......light wafting coats....dont put it on heavy

whilst ive not had an air brush ive done loads with rattle cans......as a challenge i once did a 1/12 motorbike using only rattle cans.....worked out ok in the end

If you want practice go and buy the cheaoest nastiest plane kit you can to use as a test mule

Im sure others will contribute tips to make it work

good luck and let us all know hiw you get on
