Hi Jim - silly o'clock again, 3am. Have to be up for work at 5:20. Hopefully the repaired brim will look ok under paint

With the demise of the viking I made a start on Mr Ugly instead



this is work in progress and needs more work

as usual it looks terrible blown up to this size

The other night I never actually made it to bed - keeled over about 11pm then woke up in a heap at 04:40. Alarm goes off at 05:20 so no point going to bed!

Evening all,

Spent the last three hours pushing paint around on this one

Changed hat to dark grey and shaded with German tank crew uniform then black

Dry brushed the feathers in red and orange - little bit of tidying need around the edges

Blocked in the main uniform and started building up the colour - still needs shading

As usual with VJ paint it has gone shiny again so he will need a good coat of matt varnish at the end


Think I had better go and clean the palette!

Tried brushing with Ammo paint for first time - not good, very thin. Much better suited to airbrush where it works fine

Just caught up on this Mr. T, fine workmanship on the hat! And just for the record I, in my humble opinion, think you have exceeded the box art by far. Well done!

Lovely work Simon - the stubble is very effective in particular.

Then first thing I saw when scrolling the page was those eyes in the first photo.They certainly have it Simon .
The dry brushing on the feathers is great.

Wasnt everybody ugly back then?? When ever I see artists pictures of the time everyone just looked ugly. I think the bust is coming on really well and very life like

been a while.......


but I finally got a little more shading done on his jacket

not overly happy with it and it has gone mega shiny - looks like gloss rather than the matt that was used
