As I am nearing the end of my little (1:48 scale) Tamiya Japanese G40 Bulldozer build, and it is such a nice little model, I have decided it needs its own little vignette.
It will be very small and very simple, just a base with some fine sand/gravel which the dozer will be shovelling to one side, thats it.

Started on the base.
Basic thick, dense, blue foam board, couple of bits cut out, one larger one for the main spoil heap and a smaller one for the front of the dozer simulating the material being pushed forward.
Two track trenches also cut into the base.
Coated with pva.

Brilliant start peter , a simple base but its going to show the model perfectly .

Little bit of progress on this one.
Primed up the board last night.

Heres a dry fit showing the rough positioning once we are done, may change a little once gaps have been filled, etc.

I will also be adding just a couple of little accessories to add interest, an old rusty fuel drum, an old rusty wheel, an ammo case/crate.

Gonna slowly build up the base colours, I'm going for an earthy /sandy / gravelly look.
These are the colours and pigmentsI will be using, one after the other to build up the layers, plus a couple of different textures, eg: fine sand and fine gravel.

And more progress....
Couple more top coats of differing shades of brown/beige/sand applied.

Now to apply some texture, eg: fine sand/gravel, etc....

Painted up the accessories, they will also be "distressed" a bit more before final placement.

Textures added and some pigments also added around the base...
The dozer has now been placed in its final position, complete with driver.

Think this one is now done, lovely little kit to make, very nice fit, easy to build, etc. I kept the little dio / vignette small and very basic.
I also have deliberately not edged the base, as I think it has an agricultural / rural look.
