discussion SOAF Decals - Hunter or Jaguar

Hi there

I am hoping as one of my first projects in my return to the hobby to build hopefully both the Hunter and Jaguar aircraft in the SOAF (Sultan of Oman's) colours. I spent a few years out in Oman as a lad and have a real emotional connection to both 6 & 8 Squadron and would like to build them for myself and my boys.

In the same vein, my Dad was heavily involved in the early formation of the SOAF and I do have access to a massive photographic database should anyone else be wishing to construct the same or the Shorts Skyvan

Hi Phil, Model Alliance produce a decal sheet with markings for a SOAF Jaguar:

Model Alliance ML72138 1:72 scale

Xtradecals do a sheet with an Omani Hunter on it (although I must admit I can't see the markings on the scan of the decal sheet):

Hi phil, another option, (although a bit more expensive) would be to get hold of the old airfix skyvan kit ,the decal sheet includes SOAF markings, im sure you could maybe adapt these,even if you had to hand paint the arabic numerals. I had to do my own arabic numerals on my 1/32 mig 17 and used a cd marker pen with quite reasonable results ,although in 1/72 it would have to be a fine one. cheers tony
