Hi guys/gals

Well went into my local hobbycraft shop today just for a nosey with the wife and came out with something a bit differant indeed.( and the wife)
I normally build military aircraft so this is something a little out there. I thought why not while I'm doing my other projects.
DHC -6 Twin Otter 1/72 by Revell
From my brief research on this kit it seems that this is an older kit "80"s and originated made by Matchbox
I have taken a few sure shots and box art
Not sure where this kit was made but I'm sure is a re mould.
It looks a nice kit though and should not present too many issues.
I'll have to do some paint conversions from Revell to Vallejo but I'm looking forward to getting started on this
Thanks for looking

Robert

I have just done this one a nice kit so I will be watching

Did you have or find any fit issues or problems with the kit that I should be aware of
I'm thinking of looking into some after market decals but still looking at a vibrant colour scheme.
I've read Hannants may be worth a check out for this.

Regards

Robert

Nice choice robert, although its an older tooling with a bit of cleaning up it still makes a fantastic looking model as peter showed with his floatplane version. looking forward to seeing the build , cheers tony

PK 127 confirms its Matchbox origins.

I have decided that I think the otter should still remain in it's vibrant colours so I have done some research and found some decals ( on order ) from draw decals ( US) which will depict the otter in its parachute training role US Golden knights parachute display team. A few weeks to wait for decals to arrive .
So on with the build

Well I made a cracking start on this wee plane today.
I took the apppproach of lots of wee sub assemblies to ease the work load.
The engine to wing was a little troublesome but only needed a little filler to sort out the seams.
Next is priming of all parts and then I need to spray the internal a light grey and paint the cockpit. I'm not going to use the decal supplied as I will be dry brushing etc. There is a decal though for the Seatbelts up front but I'll prob transfer to silver foil to make copy's of.
Pics and comments welcome

Well I have made a lot more progress on this small plane today.
The general build is complete other than a few antenna and the propellers
There was a general good fit of all pieces but a little filler was needed on the wing root.
I have given a full all over black primer. The Windows were put in place and humbrol maskol coat put over them.
This will protect the plastic till the final coat is applied and a varnish.
The internal detail is basic but I made seat belts and dry brushed the cockpit dials. I used a stir stick to keep the wings legal
There is a 20g weight in the nose section/ forward cockpit as to keep the aircraft on her nose wheel.
Masking is next on this project. I'm still awaiting decals to arrive, but I have lots of other things to be getting on with too.
Thanks for looking
Robert
