Super Pershing

Thread owner
This Super Pershing was a one of a kind vehicle, it was fitted up in the field with a glacis plate cut from a
Panther tank, also the gun shield by the 2nd Armored division in Germany.
Cylinders are added on containing coiled springs as weight compensators for long T15E1 90mm gun.

Total wartime production was 1,436 of these 310 reached ETO with 200 issued to combat units
of these only 20 ever saw actual combat.

Thanks, it's a bit of a shame that they were held back in the states for a while for what they
claimed were "logistical" reasons because they thought the war would be over before they got
there. The fact that the Germans held on longer than expected was not foreseen.
Many US tankers perished needlessly in their vulnerable Shermans while the excellent armor and
awesome firepower of the Pershing was denied them.
By the time they finally arrived in Europe it was too little too late and only 20 saw combat for
a very short period.

Jim.
