Hi guys, I have been trying a method of creating a worn lacquer coat. I revisited my Dodge Monaco to try it out.

I used a small pot of crackle glaze paint in clear, I used a soft brush and with not a lot of crackle glaze on it then stippled it on to the surface. Just before it dried I took a washing up sponge-the one with the harder scrubbing surface. I then gently scrubbed the surface.

Did it work? Well, sort of, I don't think it has come out too bad.

Good effect mate you could dry brush a little rust over the top of that and it would look like the rust is coming through the paint , it would look very authentic on the wheel arches :)

I have this stuff Al, but I got it from the UK. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tim-Holtz-Distress-Crackle-Paint-4oz-Jar-Clear-Rock-Candy-/151675545369?hash=item2350912719

It is a paint but clear, it crazies-so looks like old paint, it is useful for the effects above, and for fences etc.

I'll send you some if you want, got loads.

That looks really good Si it certainly looks like the paint is lifting slightly.

Nah, no worries. It will be in a old Mig pigment fixer bottle, will clean out and post it.
Cheers mate I appreciate that , it's my hatching day on Tuesday I'll class it as a present :D

Very nice, you have pretty much nailed that effect, it looks exactly like my old Peugeot 205 did on the boot.
