Tony

Looking good mate, nice clean build, now dirty it up :smiling4:.

cheers
Ross

Hi Tony
I can understand making a tank named after yourself :smiling4:
Looks a nice kit. The cast texture looks well done. You have mastered the link/length tracks - they look good. Never made a Takom kit but if this is their standard then certainly something for the future. As Ross said - bring on the dirt.

Hi Tony excellent work so far, relealy looks good :thumb2: keep it up.
Pete.

Reminds me to find my partially finished M3 Grant ( Tamiya MM141 ) and get it finished.
Has sat in its box for at least 20 years.

Hi Tony,
I have the M31 recovery vehicle based on the Lee from Takom. Have you found any part numbers on the sprues not tallying with the plans. trying a different approach with this one. stick all the etch where possible on the major kit parts before assembling every thing.

Cheers Mike :sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

Wow Tony...that looks like a years supply of Lee's. I've seen a friends kit while he was building, really crisp and fine moulding. If I'm not mistaken each bogie is a build in itself.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Tony,
Did we get a bonus from work or cash the wife's insurance policy in......lol.
As you know I'm in the middle of the build with the M 31 recovery vehicle. The moulding is great on it. Double check part numbers against the plans........ some do not marry.
Which one will you start first.

Cheers Mike :sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

Mike I thought I might start on the "Mid" since it's the newest and do kind of a review type build.
No bonus or insurance,I got a loan from my food fund for next month,bologna and peanut butter/ jelly sandwiches till I pay it back.:hungry:

Richard the bogies are almost that but i've got experience from the "Late" and should make building them easier.
The tracks are another story but I don't give in that easily

I see that you don't use PE but it may be interesting for you that one Russian company will make a good set of PE for Takom's Grant.

Neo I LOVE PE but over the years they've priced them selfs right out of my pocket. You use to get the full gambit of parts in a set for a reasonable price but now they've broken them into smaller groupings and by the time you buy all of what you use to get you've spent a small fortune.
All this was one set and went on or in my Brummbar.

Tony I understand. I think this kit won't be expensive. And it is a future release. I know who consult Microdesign, he will do PE for M3 Lee etc.
Some photos if you don't mind.

Now that the Grant is finished I moved the Late M3 to the paint shop.

While watching the Indy 500 I installed the mud guards front and back,the markings as well as the wheels and tracks. Last night I coated the right front sprocket with a brown wash and it changed the color as expected,more brownish.

Two great races so far today and the big NASCAR race is next:thumb2:

It's been a fun day

OK I sealed in the markings and while that was drying I got to thinking about the other brands of OD that I had and Vallejo Model Air US Olive Drab seemed to be more brown than the others so what I did was mix a 80/90% thinner to color and just sprayed a dusting coat not real heavy because my fade was getting weak. To the eye it did add a tinge of brown to the OD but the camera and lights make it appear more green than it is. View attachment 303265View attachment 303266View attachment 303267
