I found a good way of bringing the rear brake light to life. I've used a small piece of foil insulation tape and I pressed it against the sheet of mesh that I had to emboss it with a texture. I've then gone over it with red lacquer. It's worked quite well.

Thanks for sharing that tip - very effective and definitely one I'll be storing away for my own use...
