Hi - getting back into the hobby after an absence of decades...

In the instructions for this model, occasionally a part number is indicated in double angled brackets, e.g. <> at stage 8. What does this mean?

Hi EastStander. This will require some research. I'll check to see if any of my Tamiya models have this. Is there a key for this in the instructions sheet introduction at all?

It appears in the Mosquito kits with <> and <> and for a clear under wing light. I think it means pre-paint prior to assembly for that stage.
