Tamiya 1/72 Junkers Ju87G-2 Stuka

Thread owner
I didn't take photos of the cockpit or initial build, as it's pretty much the same as any other Stuka, except being a later version, it has the dark grey RLM66 interior colour. The fit isn't fantastic being Italeri, but comes up nicely under the primer.

RLM71 is on (Mr Color). It goes against convention, but I find it easier to paint the upper camouflage first on the Stuka, due to the tailplane struts. You could add the struts later, but the fit wasn't great, and I followed the process on my Fujimi Ju87B. It also means I can add the landing gear to the wings during construction and mask those off, instead of either masking around them later, or adding them at the end (fit again this case). I will put the wheels (not spatted in this case) on after the final steps.

Quick progress joe , looking fine . I like the cannon armed stukas , got the academy kit in the stash so this might just bring it to the front !

Thanks Tony. I started it as I ended the Warthog, so not super quick. The logistics GB entry has pretty much taken priority on the bench. The Academy kit looks really good, and probably a much better fitting build.

Lovely splinter joe , must admit i’m not looking forward to masking up that canopy ! 🫣

I'm hearing you Tony. It's the least favourite part of any build for me. I put on podcasts and/or music to relax myself mentally and then go for it.
I tend to hold my breath till i go a bit blue ! 😂

I do like the Stuka. Such an unusual aircraft. That looks a lot better with the yellow on Joe.

I've just joined in and it's nearly finished. Anyway, top work Joe. all looking splendid.

Cheers Steve. I got excited and forgot to paint the tail band before doing the top camouflage.

Cracking work so far Joe. Looking very nice indeed.
Cheers Ian

A way to go yet Colin. Hoping to get the RLM65 lower colour on soon
