Anyone out there built the 1/35 25pdr?

My question is: does the kit include the later muzzle brake? If it has I may purchase it and try to rebuild a hopelessly flawed Sexton I have.

If anyone has the kit either with the Quad or on it's own could they have a quick look. Many thanks in advance.

Have you had a good search for a suitable metal turned barrel? May be cheaper and better than cannibalising the 25pdr

Hi Graham, just a barrel on it's own isn't going to be enough as I need the breech and firing mech too. Also, I don't think I've ever seen a metal 25pdr barrel. I could be wrong but I think I would have noticed one when searching for other barrels. Cheers for the suggestion but I think the Tamiya kit is the way forward as well as a lot of scratch building and repair.

Found out this morning that the Tamiya kit does include the 1943 muzzle brake. May purchase this kit to start a major renovation/improvement on the resin S-models Sexton kit.

Cheers

Hope you blog the build Paul, sounds an interesting project. By the way, I couldn't find a metal barrel for the 25 pdr either lol

Hi Scott/Chaps

Thanks for the info guys, I found out from an online review that the Tamiya kit does have the '43 muzzle brake so I'll probably be using this. Kai maybe able to mill one of these barrels but the breech and the firing mech? Also, I wouldn't be able to supply any specs for the 25pdr. I think the Tamiya kit will be the easiest way forward.

Graham, when i get round to this rebuild/kit bash/renovation I'll be sure and post - this will be quite involved as all the super structure will need rebuilding, the running gear replacing as well as the gun! there'll be hardly any resin left apart from the lower hull (unavoidable though as the Sexton was based on the Canadian Ram tank and not the Sherman, otherwise kit bashing a Sherman may have been an option). It would mean a lot to me to get this right though as my grandad drove one in WW2.

Cheers everyone

Paul
