Si you can get a tank at any time to add on. All that you do is to fit the tank where the brush is and add an extra hose from tank to airbrush. It is okay as a no-flash starter kit but is worth investing in a tank compressor if you can.As has been mentioned car paint and good quality plastic primer can give you superb results and can be had cheap.
