Greetings an apologies for absence for a couple of days, I shall reply to those good enough to comment later to night.

Bruised ribs were hurting and didn't feel much like looking in or doing a great deal of bench time, its getting better each day .

To day a phone call from my very close and good friend Dude 1 all the way from the Father land started the day off well . Certainly gave me the interest in doing some more, even though the sun was bright and the garden was calling. Still too wet to go stamping about so into the cave I went.

Made up the roof sections, glued in place waiting for tomorrow to start cutting the tiles out.
This is where I'm up to.

Pleased with the finish so far, door were fun to do .

Thanks for looking in.

John.

A good look around the forum later.

Always a pleasure to keep you, "The Bin Diver of Stamford", on your toes, Dude 2!!! Great catchup and good to know you are healing up. You had me worried there Brother. Like I told you, leave that diving sport to the young folks!!!...

Incredible and meticulous work as usual and I know you are in your element. Glad you're driving on with this beauty!!! Love it!!!...

Very nice mate :smiling3:
As one who's made a LOT of scratchduggery 1/12th Victorian/Georgian buildings,(not to mention Witches thatched, cottages!),I can see the time/effort that you've put into this. ;)
Excellent stuff for sure!!

She's a Beauty alright! .....and JR, if the ribs are hurting, it means yer healing. You have to be alive to feel pain!! ;)

Looking really good John. The mortar has worked very well indeed. Painting individual bricks is a chore, but necessary though. Not done that for many years, but when I did I used watercolour pencils rather than paint because I found it easier to control. Works great if you want to do any decoration in engineering blue bricks.
Good idea there Tim, Christine has some water colour pencils, will give that a try thanks .
Wobble,
This as a whole is looking really superb, and is even tempting me to attempt some diorama work, going to get the 10ft x 8ft x 6in foam block out and start practicing, do you think that will be enough or should I order more because of waste... Twinkle toes was on patrol last night walking around and looking to dump the empty cooking oil drum - sneaked out later and put it back outside his door....
email later
Wibble
I doubt that will be bigger enough Wibble, I'd go for the extra large size 16ft x 16 ft X 12 in this covers waste much better .

Be aware of your neighbor he's not eating !

John

Big fan of your architectural projects. Very well done. If it is of any use I have similar sliding doors on my old barn. This is how they work.

Thanks John, and for the method of hanging in your sketch.

When you say 'wall filler' is that stuff like Polyfilla? It looks good. Better than the way I've done it which is dry plaster brushed into the joints and then VMS Ballast Freeze dripped in to set it.
That's interesting Jim, I had seen that method used . Yes the "wall filler " is out of a pkt. Just a normal DIY shop purchase. I tinted with grey paint, and a touch of "dust " both Vallejo .

John,
You are a master at the building work.
Cheque in the post Paul, very kind of you to say .:thumb2:
The brickwork is amazing JR…
Hi Joe, thanks for looking in and for the kind comment.
John,
This is superb.
Cheers Paul .
Damn that's what I was going to say!
Kind of you Neil , thanks .

Yes , not doing that again Dude 1 . Thanks for the call .

Fantastic John. Those capping stones in particular are sublime.
Thanks Andy, did them in a grey mix at first then realised they looked too clean, brushed on some water I was using to wet brushes . Hence the odd finish as the water by then was a muddy brown !

Really rather good John!
Cheers Andrew.

Been working on the cobble sets .Base is Kappa Line Foam Board .( 4 D Model shop, the only supplier of Kappa Line ). Tooled using a empty eraser end of a pencil worked in to a square.
Once done as crumpled piece of kitchen foil is pressed in to surface , resulting in a uneven surface .

A close up .
IMG_20230406_091535002.jpg
First coat was black AK 3D Gen Primer, after a night drying another mix of light grey
AK 3 D Gen mixed with PVA and water.
This will give the surface a hardness , once dry the sets can have a mixture of colours applied ,but first the filler rub ! .

Thanks for looking in .

Now waiting for Amazon to deliver so sitting by the draw bridge !

Looks fantastic John… I just recently found a small piece of foam board and started practicing making cobbles with the ends of some old paint brushes,, bristles removed of course and bent the ends into irregular shapes. I’ll have to get a lot more practice to get the superb results that you produce my friend.. how much is the tuition to the Race Institute of miniature building model school.?.. whatever the cost is..it’ll be worth it

Quick update people .
Still doing the roof with 10mmx 5 mm 1 mm foam, such fun :nerd: only advised for true nerds !
Meanwhile I've cut some pins , removing the pin end and leaving about 20 mm , including the point.
These have been ca' d to the bottom of the gutter
The photo show them being kept level whilst being glued .
Second photo shows the ends capped and pewter for brkts glue on .

Mean while that roof is looking like this

Found 2 to 3 layers in one go, then leave to dry.
Using

Very quick drying compared to normal PVA.
