All the bits are on and it's ready for a base coat.

Took a bit of persuading and a little brute force to get some bits in the right place but it's a solid little thing now.

its the italeri M4A2 "wet" sherman patrick.

from what ive seen from looking in all the boxes - all the version kits are the same sprues, just the destructions and decals are different. i just chose the cheapest one at a sale price, dont need decals in this dio.

Been watching quietly in the back ground but seeing as I rose the the bait laid by Dave, I would just like to say this is looking rather good. If I can just say one thing. Its about the Jeep on the jack. The Stub in the centre of the wheel laying on the ground. Should that be there? I thought it was a part of the axle...

thanks for the compliment Ian, the centre will be drilled out and adjustments made to the drum brake on the jeep when I start doing all the fiddly bits near the end of the build.

there's lots of little things to tidy up to make it "as close as" that i keep noticing.

just realised it needs a little generator somewhere in the shed for one thing.

I concur with Aaron, the first image looks like a diorama with the way it's framed and the contrast being off..... i do like the composition of that image though and who knows it may become a diorama yet

Ok then i'm calling this finished (but with room for little extras i see fit to add in the future)

Sorry there's a few images.....here we go .....

The Longest stay at one location for any MASH unit was 29th may 1951 to 17th sept 1951 (they often bugged out and moved forward and backwards as needed, although, as ever... just behind the main lines),

The MASH Motorpool/workshop was often covered with canvas showing a red cross, not for deception but for the fact it was predominently used for ambulance repair and service.

As there was no rail transportation available, and hardly any substatial bridges on the main roads .... after a heavy rain, supply trucks were frequently held up for several days until the streams went down enough to permit the trucks to ford them, some of these trucks would visit a nearby MASH workshop for service before making the trip back to majour cities such as Seoul.

The Story behind the diorama.

A sherman arrives, limping with a temporary repair to its track, the engineers at the motor pool are suprised to find the occupants of the tank are British (belonging to the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars), they explain that they found the Sherman abandoned after walking several miles, their own Cromwell being destroyed by artillery fire two days earlier.

The Sherman carries Russian markings and a few alterations to the inside, North Korean armour was normally begged, stolen or borrowed from anywhere, the workshop engineers start the task of painting the markings out and repairing the track.

The engineers already have a jeep undergoing repair on a rear wheel but, by order, main armour takes priority in the motorpool ... taking precidence over even the most important medical vehicles.... sad state of affairs concerning the emergency vehicles but thats the way of the war.

Terrific stuff Colin.....With so much effort having gone into this, every square inch of your diorama has a mini story to tell.

A lot of thought has gone into it too, and I suspect lots were added as and when the ideas came into your head.

This is what I find so fascinating about dio. building.....the unexpected!

Great model, and a credit to your scratch building skills.
