I'm also starting up again and if they were my results, I would be very happy indeed. Very nice!

First of all can I just clear something up. You say you did this to see how good or bad you were? Well don't. There is no such thing as a good or bad modeller. The only reason you should build models is for the pleasure of doing them. Seriously, there are no 'perfect' modellers so no one is that good. Give yourself a break, enjoy what you do and learn as you go along, this is what all modellers who enjoy the hobby do. Try to be relaxed about your builds and, like everyone, you will have great models and some you could do better. I don't know any modeller who is not like this.

However, they look good to me so I will ask you the important question: Did you enjoy it? If the answer is yes then they are great. If the answer is no then the next one will be.

They look like two Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 cars to me so they can't be that bad :) :)

Cant see a lot of detail in the pic, but they're easily identified as McLaren F1s, the markings look straight and uniform and the finish looks good. So I'd say it's a good result - Graham hit the nail on the head: If you enjoyed it, it's a good result, if not, think about your next project and try and increase the enjoyment!

But in my opinion, they look very good.

Stuart

+1 for Graham though I entirely understand why you would want to ask people's opinions to get some perspective on the builds.

I agree with the others, from what I can see in your piccies they look like a fine effort.

I've never built a model that I was 100% happy with and I've never built one that I didn't enjoy, albeit once or twice through gritted teeth :)

Cheers

Steve I agree with you there, never quite 100% whether it be my fault or the kit's fault(yea right) but as long as I learn something from each one, I enjoy it, whether it fell together or took a sledgehammer and blowtorch....

I don't know your name Partsguy26, and I can't see enough to give an honest opinion, but from what I can see they look fine.

Never seek perfection...It's an impossible gold.

Don't hesitate to ask questions...learn from others.

Try not to compare your attempts with those of more experienced modellers. Frustration will be your friend!

Don't bin any model, no matter how bad, keep it as a test piece.

Learn from your mistakes.

Never get down hearted.

Never say "I can't do this.".....At least try!

Take your time.

Your next model will be better than the last........Believe it to be so!

Don't build at half cock, walk away and come back later.

That's my 10.....

But the ultimate bit of advise....HAVE FUN!!!!

Good luck with future builds.

Looks very OK to me "Parts" . Perhaps a number of photos & closer would help to appreciate your work on future projects. Think we are all our best critics we are aware of what we produce.

Yes I do enjoy model making & part of model making is to get better & build the next one better if not I am disappointed. But that runs through my character in life.

Seen so much on this forum & it is striking how peoples character comes thro time & again in so many different ways. One instance I could never build two models at one time it is alien to me. Others obviously enjoy that way of working. Always amazed when some one says I left this for six months & I though I would now finish it. I have to finish a model, even if not as good as I had hoped, before starting a new one.

Interesting to see al of these differences happening.

Now for the next one Parts. Be nice to know your Christian name ?

My name is Richard :) thanks for the comments guys. It's much appreciated. I do love model making and always take my time.

Although I'm not 100% happy with these models, it's mainly to do with the paint finish. Hate brush marks with a passion!!!!! But I am on the case for some decent brushes that will give me that optimum finish I'm looking for.

Richard I would start another thread & ask about hand brushing materials types of paint used & brushes used.

Seen some great finished here with hand brushed work. How I do not know.

Ian "Lancaster's" , among many others, painting is first class especially as he is painting Lancaster wings & fuselages most of the time.

I echo the comments thus far. They look pretty good to me.

I will leave the brush painting to those who indulge. Ron (Spanner) is very adapt with a hairy stick as is Ian Lanc. I fail to see how they get such a good finish with them. I did OK with Humbrol and a brush but that was many years ago.

Have a search around in the painting section and I am sure you will find something or someone helpful to give tips and advice.

Thanks again guys. I seem to be devoting much of my day at work to looking through old threads on here. Is that bad?

No, it's not bad at all. It's called looking for inspiration for your next project.

Have fun, John

Two very nice cars

Are they good or bad makes no difference.

My question to you Richard is a simple one, did you enjoy yourself while building them? If the awnser is yes then keep building and forget about the good or bad.....

Thread owner
I know I need to forget about the end product and enjoy but I've always been some what of a perfectionist so it's hard for me to settle for a mediocre model.
