I got the engine finished with the last of the painting and a wash done then had a go at building a trolley for it from a GS trailer chassis and plastic rod. It needs some more work but I think it will look okay.

The portakabin has had a coat of US Dark Green and is ready for the interior paint and detailing. The fire doors are painted but need fixing while the side wall has been cut and glued in place.

I had a play around with a completed Lightning in the hangar to see how it all comes together.

Great work Rick, the hanger looks excellent and the Lightning looks right at home!

Very cool

Cheers

Spanking stuff!! :D :D:cool:

The Lightning is a "beast" in size when up close and personal!! That dio is looking the business, just need some sawdust + oil/fuel patches and greasy fitters..... ;)

This is awesome Rick, superb skills and scratch making. Are you going to light it, would really set the scene off.

I was thinking of lighting the portakabin but have no idea how to power it.

There is a T5 at a museum here in Farnborough and you're right, it is a beast. I have lots more clutter to add including some techies left over from my Nimrod build, here are some examples in the later green overalls, goretex and hi-viz, I have some in the earlier RAF blue overalls....I was thinking ahead so that I would have Lineys from different era's to pose with my builds.

When I do lighting I use either a 9v battery with connectors and a switch or if you just have a few then I use a duel button cell battery with on off switch, will get some piccies and show you.

On my 1/24 Huey I used a twin 3V button cell with on/off switch, this is small and can be tucked away. On the Huey it powers, flashing 3mm LED, orange 5mm LED, and two lots of red, green and white LED's with fibre optics.

The battery pack is located in the cot.

It provides ample power for these lights.

More detail on the portakabin today with interior work on the walls using some charts and stuff from Scalescenes and flight safety posters downloaded from the Internet and scaled down. Various bits of paperwork cut to size and glued down represent work orders etc. when dry I'll try and add some detail to them with a pencil or the like. The exterior has been touched up where the interior beige leeched through.

I need to look for some chairs, desk clutter and knock up some maintenance manuals from plasticard to complete the detailing. I added posters to the back wall of the hangar too.
