Sounds good Chris - but look what crap they ended up with from 'Starship Troopers'! And did you ever see the 'Dune' TV series? :poop: - 'nuff said!

AN Sorry dave as we have gone off your thread line do you mind as we are havin fun dredgin up these books an the memerioryies ?
chris

Don't worry about it Chris! It's not the first time that a thread has gone wandering off into some other universe - and I daresay it won't be the last.

Some more to add to my buy list - but not Harrison as I already have them. Did you read his 'Technicolour Time Machine'? Really funny.
Couple of quotes from that stick in my mind -
"I'll show him" "Who?" "Me!"
And
"The only reason that the Vikings discovered America, was because we made a film about the Vikings discovering America!"

Now I'm jealous! That's a great reading list. Haldeman's 'Forever War' is superb but I found 'Forever Peace' only so-so. Niven's 'Ringworld' and 'Mote' books are pretty good. Have you read all the Dune books? I thought Herbert's son did a pretty good job of the prequels - even if it took him a dozen books+ to do it!
I have read all the Dune books, starting back in the day when there were only 3, his son has made a pretty good job of the prequels.
For long books, try Peter Hamiltons TRilogies, the void series and reality dysfunction,

Some say their inaccuracy is down to Jedi mind control, forcing them to miss.

I could go along with that, but they weren't always shooting at the Jedi. How come they never hit Han or Chewie? :upside:

I got half way through Pandora's Star and it didn't grab me. I'll maybe try again though.

The force is not bound to proximity, so could still be valid!
You might also suggest either of those two have some force ability.

I don’t subscribe to this by the way. I’m with you. These theories exist only to plug a huge hole in the story in my view!

Yeah. Skynet missed a trick as well. Why fart about with time travel when all they needed to wipe out the humans were any number of biological/chemical weapons. As machines, they didn't need to eat so they could use anything they liked to kill off animal/plant life and humans would starve. Mind you, there wouldn't be much of a part for Arnie if they'd thought of that!

Why were their first attempts at robots so varied and iterative? You'd have thought a machine would find a more efficient process?

WELL Chris skynet had to experiment to get the right killin machine an in my book the T-1000 was the best

Sure, so if that's the most efficient machine, you'd think they'd go straight to that, so that would be the only terminator model.

YES Chris but remember SKYNET was only self aware a few wks before it thought i'll do all them little buggers in that made me so it experimented with ARNIE first then onto the others terminators if you see what i mean

I always wondered why Skynet used nuclear weapons….all those EMP pulses would have fried most of the digital devices on the planet, including the internet hardware it was using when it became self aware. Basically sky net lobotomised itself to kill off a termite nest!

YEA Tim very true all the EMP pulses would have wiped out SKYNET'S abilty to conroll the world it should have used chemical weapons then it would have been ok ( FILM makers take note ) lol

Not sure a few shots of a crop spraying aircraft would be quite as exciting as seeing Arnie battling the baddie!

YES Dave i know what you mean but chemical warfare would not be conducked by tiny cropsprayers but by a big ole missle's hundreds of them with hundreds of bomblets of chemicals dropped down on us from orbit
chris

Glad to hear you've got a diagnosis Dave, and that it's nothing too serious. Now you'll have to buy a paint shaker...
