Scale Model Shop

The state of things.

I would guess the staff don’t really watch for it as they don’t know what the tokens are for, sadly,

There’s always some low-life willing to take things like this.

WELL im not up on these tokens as havnt bought a airfix kit for yonks so what do they mean for ? an yes it is the state of how things are now disqusting

You can collect them and get a free kit direct from Airfix Chris. You have to be an Airfix Club member though.

Geoff.

OH thanks for your reply Geoff as i had no idea that airfix did this to encourage younger members properly but a good idea all the same but how many tokens to get a free kit ? or does it depends on what kit you want ?
chrisb

Depends on what level Chris. I got a 1/72 Beaufort which was 30 tokens I think and I had to pay to join the Airfix Club so unless you join normally it’s probably not that much of a “”bargain”.

Models for Heroes ask for donations of the tokens from people don’t want to use them so they can get kits from Airfix for the people they help.

Geoff.

TBH, ISTR these tokens from years back, but I had not noticed them on my current stash, and I've already made a few and just binned the boxes, so I will have to have a look at my current Airfix boxes to see how many tokens I have, can use, etc, as I am a member of the Airfix club, I think?

Hobbycraft needs to catch them first.
identify them as the perpetrator, not bother with the police but charge them for every kit defaced.
If they refuse then get the police to charge them with criminal damage.

If it's not nailed down, someone will steal it. Said from twenty-plus years in retail. Currently, it has to be more than two-hundred quids worth stolen before the police will even take an interest...

However...
I believe this would count as criminal damage, which is a whole'nother barrel of monkeys...

How sad does one have to be to steal Airfix tokens?

A hex on their future builds, may the sun melt their sprues and the cold solidify their paints.
HI JOE yes those horrible people havnt got any respsect for other modelers that will buy the wripped off kits its a pity airfix dont put the token inside the sealed box then that would stop them nickin the tokens cant understand why airfix havnt thought of that ? as jen an i have a hard job just gettin into our malteser box as its sealed up with selaphane
