Thiner

I've used water with Tamiya paints - it works, but not as well as the right stuff. Drying is a bit slower with water.

Hi Benjamin
Welcome to the forum. Tamiya paint will work much better with Tamiya thinner X-20A or Tamiya Lacquer thinner. The lacquer thinner works very well but is rather smelly.

Hei Benjamin
Velkommen til forumet. Tamiya maling vil fungere mye bedre med Tamiya thinner X-20A eller Tamiya Lacquer tynner. Lakktynneren fungerer veldig bra, men er ganske stinkende.

Ok, thanks for the tips M8. I normaly use X-20A thiner. But i dont have it right now and need a other alternative

Water will work fine for Tamiya acrylics. Instead of X-20A thinner, you can also use windscreen wiper fluid — a good guide is that if it smells like the thinner, you can use it for the paint :)

I have been using IPA to thin Tamiya acrylic paint for a long time and have no problems with it. Another benefit is it is way cheaper than x20.

Andy.

Tamiya X20A and Mr Hobby Leveller are great; I only thin Mr Hobby Aqua and Tamiya with water if I use hairspray chipping.
