discussion Thinning varnish

Quick question for you all.
I have AK Interactive and Vallejo varnish (matt, satin, gloss) and wondered what I should thin them with and to what ratio.
Any ideas?

You can cut them with water, but not too much, own brand thinners work better.
Ratio depends on what you're doing with them and how thin they are already.

Plan on airbrushing aircraft with them (I have older/cheap/rubbish airbrushes that I’ve used in the past, I just can’t remember the ratio.
One of them mentions water but doesn’t say how much. I’ll see how thin it is and apply some common sense.
