Tonys Airfix 1/72 Hurricane mk1 airfield vignette

Thread owner
Got the fuselage together and wings on now, its starting to look like a hurricane . Strangely Airfix dont supply a gunsight of any kind , so an early reflector gunsight ( round lens ) will have to be scratched and fitted before I get the windscreen on . Ive also been squinting through the magnifying lamp and got the figures started . Theyve had a basic first coat of colour , lots more tiny details to paint and shading washes etc to come . The figures are now done after a bit more detail painting , washing and drybrushing .
I scratched a gunsight and attached it then masked up the windscreen and fitted that. After masking the cockpit opening the airframe got a coat of Halfords grey primer. Next up some colour . IMG_4125.jpegIMG_4126.jpegIMG_4127.jpegIMG_4128.jpegIMG_4129.jpegIMG_4130.jpegIMG_4131.jpeg

Wow, that was an enjoyable catch up. Some cracking work going on, love the figures, they will really add something to the finished product.

Cheers doug , they are so beautifully sculpted that it even makes my figure painting look ok ! Mind you looking at the photos now I think the chap with the dog might have to have a bit of a touch up, hes got a mucky face !

Excellent progress Tony. Love the way you've made the lights. The figures look super especially at 1/72.

Decals on now and drying . Tomorrow maybe it will get a matt coat to seal everything in , then its just final bits like aerial / aerial wire/ pitot/ canopy and some very light weathering .
Im thinking about a round base about 8/10 inches in diameter , got to source it yet though. IMG_4139.jpeg

Got the Hurricane finished now and tye figures are all done so Ive just got the base to sort. I sourced a round piece of MDF ( well I didnt , my son the joiner did -thanks Sam !) which has been profiled on the edge and painted black . Ive now got to stick on some grass . I got a roll of grass effect from the Hinckley show as well as a bag of flock . I’m going to stick on the paper backed grass and then add some of the flock to give it some variation . I’ll probably spray a few random green/ brown areas with the airbrush too .IMG_4161.jpegIMG_4160.jpegIMG_4159.jpegIMG_4163.jpegIMG_4164.jpegIMG_4165.jpegIMG_4166.jpeg
