A little more work on the Chally today, love how the side armor went together. I'm replacing all the grab handles only because it looks better, and the drive sprockets needed a lot of cleaning up. But i'm enjoying the build.

I've had a silly idea too, and Wendy (the wife) loves it. Nine times out of ten the Royal Tank Regiment named their tanks so when this one it painted i will be putting "Ghost 1942" on the side of the turret. Ghost 1942 was my Dads username on the Army Rumour Service, and i think it'll be a nice gesture.

The ghost is looking very tasty John , its going to look fab , and i know your dad would be well chuffed to see it named in his honour , cheers tony:)

Hi all, had a very busy day modelling yesterday and i've now got something that looks like a Chally. Only had one problem and that was one of the mirror post snapped on the sprue. Made some new ones for both but laid them down so i could get the turret on, as you can see from the pics if i left them upright the gun barrel would have took them out lol.

Whats next, the wheels and that really big 120mm L30A1 sniper rifle, Then hopfuly it'll be onto paint, and it just so happens i ordered a new compressor for the airbrush. The one i use is for 1/1 scale and thought it was time to get one thats wife friendly.

Well, what can i say. In my haste to play with the new compressor i loaded up the wrong colour in the airbrush and ended up with a Chally going on a peace march, so that needed to be sorted.

Yesterday (Sunday) i got an old sponge and masking fluid and went mad, now it's desertised. Don't know how i've done it but take i photo using a phone and it looks yellow just like the real thing, but using my SLR camera in natural light it's sand.

We all make mistakes and i thought i'd share my weekend with you lol, i'm just happy i got there in the end.

You can ask, and i'll try my best to answer. Paint your model the base colour, in my case green (and lots of it). You'll need some masking fluid (i use Winsor & Newton, but any masking fluid will do) Get an old sponge and rip a piece off, dip it in the fluid then onto some paper to get rid of the excess. Then dap it were you want the paint to chip off on your model, then paint you model with the top coat. Wait for that to dry then the fun part starts, just rub the area where the fluid is with a cotton bud (q-tip). Goes for nice to battered in seconds.

Thanks John, I think I've still got some Bob Dively liquid mask left over from my RC days. I'll give that technique a go at some point.
