Having just returned I though I'd get back into the swing with something small and hopefully where I can get a quick and reasonable result.

Box opening and hobby zone photos attached.

James,
hope you're recovering after that strenuous trip! I've looked at the Trumpy Vulcan a few times, I'll be interested to see what you think of it..............
Dave

Nice choice. Saw the last flight (in the distance) from my house when she went over Old Sarum :thumb2:

Hi James
An iconic aircraft. Saw the one at Cosford last week. Even at 1/144 it will be pretty big.
Jim

RAF Finningley in the 60/70s Battle of Britain Air displays - 3 Vulcan scramble - one lifting off, next halfway down the runway & the last just opening his throttles, the ground shook - the air crackled - and the smell of burnt fuel! I first went in 1962 - the last time in 1977 ( a few years missed, though, either at college, or at sea! )

I saw them as a kid a few times and have sat in the one at middlands museum a few times.

I am slowly recovering thanks Dave, you know how it is though, takes time!

So far seems a nice little kit. I have the 2 victors in the stash too. Just fancy something simple that will look good.
Probably going to do a small base for it to stand on as well.

PS - I am leaning towards the upper half camo and the lower half anti flash white colour scheme wise

Surprisingly small inside isn't it!
Pete
Yes indeed, even as a child it wasn't spacious.
I'd imagine the curator there has long since left. I assume he know my father as when ever I went he used to accompany us around and ask what I wanted to go in.
His favourite trick I think was the first time I want in and he said I had to be strapped in and could not touch the yellow and black pull cord as the seats had not yet been disarmed. I nearly soiled myself as he proceeded to pull it out! As a 7 year old I was pretty gullible.

Nice choice, good luck with your build James.

As an aside that is an impressively tidy work area :smiling3:

Geoff.

I was always told that a tidy desk was the sign of somebody who had really untidy drawers!

So got a bit done today though it doesn't look like much.
Decided not to put the cockpit in but some part of me was unable to go through with it.
So plan is to do cockpit, build aircraft and spray whole then put wheels on. I plan to spray Matt black primer so I can get a good mottled textured effect. As you will see I have gone for the exposed "deterrent".
Also going to do a small base for it, about 6-8 inches square as a hard standing.

So making an effort with this to use filler and get a good surface before painting as I know this is somewhere I lack patience and skill.

So basically it's together and just waiting for the glue to set.
Have done wheel bays flat yellow just to add a little colour variation to the aircraft. Also varnished wheel bays and have applied panel line accent for some depth. Hoping tomorrow to mask wheel bays and then spray all black prime.

Also going to paint the war head slung below in a Soviet blue for more contrast. Wondering whether to do a hard standing base or maybe a mirror with wooden surround.

James,
think you've got enough clamps? - If not, I know where you can get one of these.........................

Actually the pegs maybe better as these ones I'm using keep slipping off and the pegs have rubber grips.

Just dug 2 trumpeter lightnings out for construction next and also a hasegawa sea harrier set of 2 as I'm currently listening to harrier 809 audio book as I've just finished lightning boys.
