Well to keep the momentum going I've made a start on this one, this will be only my second jet fighter the first being He 162 that I built back in 2013. It's up to Trumpeters usual standard with pe seat belts, instrument film and a white metal undercarriage option. I've made a start on the cockpit tub which is full of detail and I've cleaned up the undercarriage too. The camo is interesting and I'm not sure which one to go for. I might chicken out and go for the easy option. I'll have to wait till I've go to that stage I don't think my spraying skills are up to it.

Hi Vaughan
I've never built one of these large scale planes but one day I must have a go. Looks like this was a bargain price. I rather like the box art camo scheme :tongue-out3:
Jim

That looks a lovely kit, I'll follow along if I may.

Camo doesn't look too tricky if you break it down. All over with the light colour, plenty of wiggly blu tac worms to mask that out, then pretty random with the mid and dark greens. Good luck if you choose that option.

Jim I bought this a few years back when Modelzone was still around and I think it was the point when they were going under hence the price reduction. Anyway I have used Vallejo black surface primer on the cockpit interior and bulkheads and will follow up with RLM 66 and 02. The undercarriage and wheel hubs have been primed and I have also sprayed RLM 02 and have hand painted the silver oleos.

Nice model. I was going to say the same as Andy, thinking 3ft of Blutack worms should do the trick for the camo.

Or spray the dark colours of the upper sides first, and then add the pale lines over them.

I looked at getting the nightfighter version from Trumpeter before settling on the Revell kit. Will be watching this build Vaughan

Al I was thinking of the Revell version my self but then realised I had this in my stash.
I've Been busy with all the sub assemblies and there are plenty. This is the point I'm up to now. Cockpit is RLM 66, bulkheads, fuselage halves RLM02 and gun bays silver. Still some more weathering to do and p.e belts to sort too. Interestingly this version only has two cannons I think it was used more for ground attack and light bombing I might be wrong.

Looks great Vaughan. I built a tiny 1:72 a while back and really liked the shape of the 'Swallow' Seeing this in 1:32 has got me interested in another.

Cockpit tub is now complete p.e belts fitted. Only gunsight glass to add. The sight is only a dry fit at the moment so will sort later less likely to get broken:rolling:. Fuselage radio and battery painted and weathered. Gun bay completed. I'm in the process of constructing the wings so things are moving along.

Looking good Vaughan. Be careful of a step on the underside where the fuselage joins the wing. It can be cured with plastic card otherwise there is a fair bit of filling and sanding.

Barry, thanks for the heads up on the wings/fuselage fit. Just taken these photos and I can't see any real step. Also as a side note is this going to be a tail sitter?

Yours looks OK, on mine it was at the foreward join, the middle picture. It might then have been warping on my kit. the fit on yours looks spot on.
