I've been working on the Jumo engines for the last few days which are highly detailed. I built one completely and sprayed and weathered it too. But on attempting to fit into the engine cowling it proved too bulky and prevented them closing . So I have used the rear section which fits fine and the nose section leaving the middle empty. This is not ideal as there is nothing to line up the nose so to speak but it is possible.
Hi Vaughn, it's a shame the engine can't fit in. Overall it's looking good. I like your painting style...very solid.

Well we're almost a week on and I have been progressing but not had time to post. The fuselage is together some re-scribing will be required due to the fact there's a lot of detail close to the seams. Nose cone fit is not great gaps on either side. There's the same issue with the gun bay doors I was hoping to close it all up but might have to opt with them open will see how it goes. Good old Liquid gravity has come to the rescue again I have filled in the ejector chutes with super glue gel and then filled the cavity. A dry fit with wings, Jumos, flaps and horizontal stabilisers. So no tail sitting here :smiling3: The white metal under cart really makes the model sturdy. Looking at the shape of this jet, know as the swallow, you would never guess that she was first in service and flying in April 1944 the design just doesn't date.
Just caught up Vaughan, that's looking very impressive so far.
She certainly is coming together Vaughan. You are right about the design, a beautiful aircraft well ahead of its day.

This is looking really nice vaughan , the cockpit looks superb . It always seems to be the case with open access panels , the fit of them closed is something manufacturers dont give much care to , they assume everyone wants to display a model with all its guts on show. While it undoubtedly can look impressive I usually go for a closed up option to see the shape of the airframe ( i know Barry prefers this look too) , it just causes headaches trying to get the panels to fit seamlessly , good luck with yours vaughan if you decide to close it all up . I tend to agree with you Tony even the instructions presume you are going to build it open. I had issues with the Arado 169 that I recently built and decided to close the engine cowlings it proved to be hard work.
Here's how the instructions show it.
I've managed to fix all the hatches down and hopefully it looks ok? Front and rear sections of the canopy are now in situ, masked and sprayed withRLM 66. This afternoon I have sprayed the model with Vallejo black surface primmer. Once dry overnight I will then spray the whole model with RLM 76 in ready ness to start the camo. I've opted to have ago at the version on the box art of RLM81 and 82. I'm going to start practicing rolling out Blu tack in very thin worms wish me luck it's bound to drive me crazy:tongue-out3:

Exactly the same with the Kitty Hawk OV-10, as they assume all hatches are open including the nose where they actually forgot to include the part for the bulkhead!! You dont see many, if any, built with the nose open.
Your 262 is looking great Vaughan, I love this stage with the primer on and a nice clean canvas to work with....
Barry, I think I've managed to pull it off the hatches don't look too bad. Spraying on the primer in black really highlights the silhouette and beauty of this aircraft.

As has already been said it is a superb design, that flawless undercoat really does show it off.
