discussion Two part clear resin question....

Thinking of doing something with a plain clear two part resin.
What sort of moulds can you use, eg: would a flexible silicone type mould be ok? and if so would I need to treat / coat the resin with anything before pouring the resin in?
I know it needs to be built up in several thin layers, allowing each layer to set before pouring the next.

Well the most important thing with resin dioramas is sealing the base.
As to using moulds I would think some sort of release agent.Perhaps some one else has more information.

You will need silicone moulds, the resin won't stick to them, no need to treat them with anything first, the most important thing is mixing the resin, most are by volume and not weight, and stirring it well, use a silicone stirring stick rather that a lolly pop stick as the wood traps air, we do our own resin, if you buy it I will chuck you a stick in for free

Some resins you have to build up the layers and some are deep pour, but I wouldn't have thought you would be doing anything that deep, they are mostly for things like making tables or large objects.
