A friend just sent me this link to a scenery modeller's portfolio. Here's the finished photographs:

Strange Worlds :: Photography Served

and here are some pictures of the actual models:

Alright Tony

I just checked out the pictures and they are absolutely amazing! I love the grey clouds in the sky - looks so real. I have a book i got off Amazon on how to do diorama landscaping and the quality is top notch. Such stuff would take me years to achieve as well as running up my credit card :)

Cheers

hi tony , amazing stuff! great link. Even though the models are designed to be photographed with a forced perspective there are loads of brilliant examples of the dio makers art to be seen here ,that can be useful to modellers of conventional dioramas . Brilliant ! cheers tony

Yeah, I know it's not quite our cup of tea but it might spark some ideas. Definately trying the fur grass for my Vietnam dio, looks alot easier than getting static grass to stand up, then flattening it down again. Think outside the box (or baseboard)!

Very good stuff although not all of the ideas would work in a dio, though I'd love to ask SWMBO to stand constantly pouring salt to keep the waterfall going! But the clouds look good for a 'flying plane' dio cum setting. And a tip for the grass for Tony, deer hair is just as good & is available from angling shops or ebay (thanks Scott!) Patrick

I saw that thread about dear hair. My brother goes fly fishing and he's got some, but I dont fancy doing a whole field full!
