hi guys, just brought this the other week thinking it's a 1:96 USS constitution scale but turns out to be a 1:196, which I drought in haste instead of checking the size ration as I was going to do a diorama with the C.S.S Alabama, which is 1:96 scale eventually which I still have not finished yet. Yes I'm an Idiot for buying this size instead of a 1:96 scale USS constitution go on laugh away I can take it, but I hope you like what I've done so far has I have started painting it as soon as it came through the post on  this Saturday gone. Enjoy still more parts to paint

Jim I feel you would do so much better with the use of masking tape or fluid, it's a good start with the decking if you dip a brush in really watered down darker brown then dry brush in the direction of the grain you will get a better effect.

OK ken, do i use thinners to water down the brown how how much thinners, p.s.  Ruth's birthday today and also Roy Palmer Snr passed away last night.

Sorry to hear about Roy jim.

Use thinners till the paint looks like dirty thinners (hardly any paint nearly all thinners) for future reference when you first start a ship and before you have anything on the decking pastels are really easy to get wood effects, check out how I did the decking in the early stages of the Soliel Royal build.

Looking good Jim, for the fine white scroll work you might find dipping the tip of a cocktail stick in the white paint may be more controlable I use that method all the time with fine work.
