Has anybody tried using Vallejo chipping fluid? After watching Vallejo tutorials I tried to spray it straight from the bottle but it’s too dense and the result is total mess. I found few pots saying that it works when it’s mixed with water but when i tired I got something that look like foam. My best results so far has been when mixing it with Vallejo sauce i.e. 2 parts airbrush thinner and 1 part airbrush improver. But even that is not exactly what I would want since spraying it is a bit hard.

I wander if anybody had any success with it?

What about AK chipping fluid ? Is it any better?

Thanks, I have used hair spray in the past but it does not give the same control as air brush. Iwanted to try something else.

On the odd occasion I’ve used hairspray Tom I decanted a small amount into a pot and then tipped it into the airbrush to spray it onto the model.
You get a lot more control this way than spraying it from the aerosol 👍

Hope this helps.

Geoff.

I use all Vallejo products with the mixture I saw on a Youtube video
Its flow improver 7 parts, thinner 3 parts and retarder medium 1 part.
Works well with model air, primer and varnish so i suspect it might do the same with chipping medium.
I start with a ratio of paint or whatever at 6 parts to 4 parts of the above mix.
if its still drying on the tip or seems a bit thick i go an extra part of the mixture.
Certainly worth a try and it can always be used with paint if you don't like the chipping results.

Thanks Geoff, I wonder what kind of hair spray you use? I tried boots’ everyday firm hold but I got mixed results. That’s I’m trying something else. I tried spraying straight from the can but though it may work on lady’s hair, it gives very little control when you try with a model. I tired to decant but it’s a bit difficult to do it straight to airbrush container. I may try with a bigger container and then pour it into airbrush.

With the above hairspray when I tried to create weathering effects I ended up washing away all paint layers to bare plastic.

I tired to thin the chipping medium with airbrush thinner but so far I have not seen results that I would be happy with. I used 7 parts thinner and 5 part chipping fluid. I'm still experimenting so I may end up with better results.
