I put a sandbag on the front of my half track, 1:35 scale, but it looked like it was just balancing there, so needed some straps.

So cut a couple of thin strips of Tamiya masking tape, think its 1mm or 2mm?
Stuck it on, then put a fuel/oil wash on top and seems to look ok.
I may add some red leather paint to the straps and see what that looks like.

I think if I attempted it again, I would try and add a small buckle, made out of some thin wire or similar.
But it'll do for me for a first attempt. 8-)

Looks good. Stowage definitely needs to look fixed to the vehicle. Buckles are straightforward the way you suggest.

I usually use tape as well....cheap and easy

Ive seen buckles made of tape too painted a suitable colour

If you want to use rope buy some string from somewhere selling stationary....must be cotton....cut a length and untwist it.....it will be made of 4 or 5 individual 'strings' and dye it with tea

Last night I did a couple of rifle slings using this same method too, they did not come out too bad.
Eg: used very thin Tamiya masking tape (1mm or 2mm not sure) cut to length and stuck using CA to the appropriate rifle points and then painted an appropriate colour using acrylic paint.
Its deffo a method I would use again. Seems to work well.... 8-)
