Many thanks people, glad you like him so far.

Probably won't be finished tomorrow Tim. I've got the camo to do and I've never done oak leaf before. The problem will be that there are a lot of folds and creases that disrupt the pattern and will need careful shading. I'm going to put off those pesky-looking bullets until the last possible moment - not my idea of fun at all.

I know you were Tim, but that will make a total of four days on one bust - unheard of for me! Mind you, the Mookies SASR did take six days, so perhaps I'm slipping - I'll put it down to the trauma of recent events.

Hi Pete, and thanks.

Well, after an almighty slog I've got most of the camo done:

I started intending to do autumn oak leaf, but it turned into plane tree as I went along - never mind, as long as it looks reasonably convincing. I still want to tweak the pattern in a couple of places, though that's something that could go on forever if you're not careful.

I've still got his back to do, then its on to the ammo.

Pete.

OK, I'm calling this one finished.

Today's session started with the painting of his back. More camo, and quite complicated with all of those straps and tabs to negotiate.

Then it was on to the ammo belt. This was supplied as four blocks of fifteen individual rounds (sixty in total, though two were damaged). I decided that the best way to do it was to paint them black first, cut them off the blocks, then attach them using tweezers and a pool of CA. That went OK, with only a couple of gluey messes, the fiddliest part being arranging them around the back of the neck. Finally I picked out the brass and steel, then tidied up by shading with more black.

This figure was great fun to do, and a big thanks to Richard for his gift.

Peter.

Hi Peter,
That sir ranks amongst your best, stunning.
regards Jim
