While going though somethings in the storage I found this old Airfix Corsair I started years ago. So I thought I would use it to practice my hand painting my aircraft camo. I know this thing is very old and loaded with raised panel lines and rivets but I thought when I finished it can join my other golden oldies. This is what I’ve got so for View attachment 325259View attachment 325260View attachment 325261View attachment 325262View attachment 325263View attachment 325265View attachment 325266

Impressive box art. Your build is coming along nicely. I have one of these in the stash bought it a few years back. I've relaxed big time when it comes to models and building, so the rivets etc don't phase me in the way they once might have.

Me too I’m tired of building models to meet today’s world standards I don’t care anymore I build what I want and how if people can’t handle I build a model different from the real specs or it’s 40yrs old then move on don’t look at my stuff. Thanks for stopping by and the complement

No probs. One thing that irks me about a lot of the newer kits is the amount of plastic inside the aircraft. Will you be able to see that cockpit and crew compartment once it has been sealed up? In the case of a bomber, not at all. All that extra plastic which adds to the cost and still no bombs for the bomb bay!!!

The update is looking good, will be finished soon.

I hope to get it done soon I will be updating the wheels and tires I’m sorry but the kit wheels are just to bad.

I like oldies and will try to make them decent sanding down rivets and rescribing but that's just me. You've done a good job of the Corsair with the hairy brush even with the rivets so far. :thumb2: It still looks like a jem of a kit and the box art too is so Airfix. looking forward to the wheels and canopy.

Cheers,
Richard

It’s been awhile since I had this on the bench. I got the canopy finished and fitted. Going to add the rear wheel, detail the prop and add some ID numbers and call it done9FA914C6-2035-4B89-907D-A35244AC8A0D.jpegE5DFB46E-FAC9-4CEF-91D9-C13766740EB0.jpegD666DF94-B15E-4EE4-B196-E00409081393.jpeg7EAFB0DE-2732-4918-ABE3-960941C2F841.jpeg

That's a great result Lee. I remember building a lot of this type of kit as a kid. Biggest reason was they were inexpensive and I did not have a lot of disposable income (allowance) in those days. Half a buck was a lot of dough! Thanks for the trip down "Memory Lane".

Rick. Glad I could take to a place in time. I used to have a bunch of old fix kit but sold the to invest in my O scale layout. Thanks for the complement

John. Thanks for stopping by and the complement. I think I’ve seen you do one wingy maybe it was the Bi plane GB build right? Have Christine get the search dogs out and find your old wingy would like to see you build another one.

Your quite correct Lee it was a Russian bi plane, it was fun but found the wires for the rigging really taxing. At 1 /72 is was a cheap buy, and fun to do for the GB. Might be coaxed to do a Russian like a
