discussion Whats the temp?

Just wondering how everyone is getting about in the Snow? the temp here has just to -4 and is falling, despite a valiant effort by a neighbour digging out part of the road, nothing can get up or down it, whats even more pissing off is a neighbour hsa a nissan x trail and it hasn't moved for 2 weeks !:shocking:

It's cold here.. My parents are stuck at home, my road looks rubbish.. Being getting to work as we have arranged some range rovers to run round and pick people up!!!

Going to try and dig the car out tomorrow and go out.. We will see if that is a good idea or not.

First time round was a laugh, something we hadn't seen in a while. I'm fed up now and want it to clear! (And I think it's here for another week)

Snow, what snow?! lol here in London it's pretty much gone but it's still very cold-quite a few brass monkeys singing soprano!

Its -8 here, god knows what it will be tonight. We've had snow since 20th Dec up to 10 inches, snow on my mates farm was well er, over the tops of your wellies!

We have a 110 double cab landy and have yet to be stuck, but people on our estate are stuck on their drives. heheheh!

Here in Surrey ( Epsom downs area ) the main roads are okayish but the side roads are still a nightmare - took me 45 min to get to the end of my road today , black ice with neighbours helping to push and pull and i finally got to work ( late but I got there ) , its 9 miles from home to work and yesterday it took me 45mins to go 1 mile - I turned round and went home , got in and the wife said thats handy you can look after the kids ( no school ) and she walked 2.5 miles to work , gutted .

Must say though us Southern boys have had it a lot easier than our Northern cousins.

Deep freeze- its been at or around zero F for around 2 weeks. But the great news is that this coldness brings our home to around 25% humidity! Enamels and clear coats dry in like 2 hours. My hands are full of tears from the dry skin.

Halfway twix Chester and Wrexham we had -12c. last night, tonight feels even colder!

Mind you, the winter of '63 was a cracker, the very year I started work as a joiner....Thanks dad!

The freeze started on Christmas Day and went through until March the following year. The sea froze and some freinds and I took a Triumph Herald and a Mini from Sandy Lane to the suspension bridge, a distance of about a mile on the frozen River Dee. This is the gospel truth, I was in the back of the Mini 'cos I was too young to drive. Crazy! THAT was cold!!!!!!!!

Hi Jspitza , at least your authorities know how to handle these cold conditions , in the UK it comes to a standstill when we get a cold period ( saying that it is -20 in some parts of Scotland and - 17 in some parts of Northern England ) , we are running out of road salt/grit and having to get more from Greece of all places ,

Still with my boys swimming and football ( soccer ) cancelled this weekend I can get 2 days modelling in , happy days.

Here in the middle of Birmingham it's minus something this evening but it actually doesn't feel too bad as there is no wind. All the main roads are clear but a lot of side roads are either impassable or like ice rinks. I'm supposed to go down to Oxford tomorrow but I'm going to decide in the morning. I've stuck a fan heater in my spraying area and it's okay for a quick squirt. I wouldn't want to spend an hour out there though.

here in sheffield ,where i am is quite high up so we have had about 8 inches. The trouble with sheffield in this weather is that it is like rome-surrounded by seven hills -so from the town centre out to the suburbs you usually have to go up a big hill somewhere along the way. The other trouble is like a lot of authorities the grit supply is running out,so only the main roads are getting done if theyre lucky. tony

Be about -3 at the mo. Snow has been coming all day but only like a dusty snow so not come to anything. We had it worse before Christmas in Peterborough, Cambs, than it is now, hope it stays that way.

I well remember the times when I traveled to see my Mum in Chesterfield Tony, the climb out of Sheffield started as soon as we left Pond street Bus Station up to Norton Roundabout was always amazing in this weather with the views over the hills towards the Peak District. This is the only time I do not miss those hills.

The views are fantastic graham, although those hills will probably have had about 12 inch of snow! Another drawback for me is that i drive a 7.5 tonne lorry ,delivering to residential addresses over a large area including yorkshire derbyshire humberside notts so this snow is a real pain ,ive had to dig the van out a few times and cancel a few deliveries!!! BTW i forgot ,the title of the thread- it was -6 this morn at 6 o clock,when i got in the van! tony

At the mo it's -1 where i am but, i just know it's going to go down because it's started to snow again. Can't go out, the only car i have is a 1982 Ford Capri with a water pump leak.

There is a road, somewhere.

The wife thought it was fun to play with my camera and took this of me clearing the path well, i'd just finished.
