Does anybody know where the thank option has gone from received posts to a thread?

Steve

Will you be changing it this time so it just says thanks, and not thanks for the useful post. Seems to me that most use it as a quick way of saying thank you.

Ian M

If i recall it said "name thanks name for this useful post"

The way it was used I think the text should say :- "Name says thanks name"

Ian M

The following user says thanks is fine by me.

As for that Facebook Likes button thing..........

Ian M

check the spelling! "Yout" thats a new one on me lol

ooh a tweets button has just appeared on the side of my screen, yout been playing again john.lol

Just a note, when you changed the "thanks" thingy was everything reset to zero cos the status thingy ( you can tell I'm not very computer literate ) says I've never been thanked, 0 for 0, not worried, just asking?

Tony.

Seems it was reset Tony.

I'm sure i had been thanked a couple of times but now i ain't got none neever :) :)

as you say though, don't matter eh :)

Yes I not interested in the number of times I have been thanked & would rather it not be there.

I like just to say thanks if I have received good & thought full information. If people feel likewise with my participation then that is very nice but do not want points which is what it is.

I had to remove the thanks button for a sort time while I did some testing, when I put it back on it zero'ed everyone, but I sort of agree with Laurie, I think it's much better if people replied with a thanks.. then constructive reply... but also if people just think, thanks for that, but posting that would just create loads of posts that don't make good reading then the button is good, I don't think the "Thanked 23 Times in 23 Posts" serves any real use so I think I will remove that but keep the button, unless anyone else disagrees?

Another quiver to your bow John.

Nice sensible compromise. Keep the thanks button which as you say cuts all "just thanks" posts but at the same time is a nice & friendly thing to have if you have taken time. But remove the "points" for thanks which is rather huh pointless.

Laurie

I agree whole heartedly. Its one thing that the thanks for this useful post was being used as a thank you short-cut, but the need to keep score was I feel rather trivial.

Good move I say. Would it be an idea to remove the "Thanks score" in the profile in the user name. Redundant info really so it might as well go as well.

Could it be asking to much to have the Location as a compulsory field in the profile? Or will we get loads of "At Home". "in the living room" kind of wit. Could it be like in an address field. If it dont exist, you can enter it. sort of thing. Bit irrelevant, I know, but I find it interesting and helpful to know in what part of the world people are. Some one suggested a Google map thing where you can put a pin where you live. I like that idea to. Perhaps an off site thing with a link to Google earth.

Ian M

I used to have little country flags in people's profiles I also had a long time back a google map with pins in for people's locations

Yes I like the locations idea. I frequently look to find where members come from. It builds a great picture. I think most are proud to show where they come from I certainly am. In the same way for members to show their Christian names as it does provide a much more friendly atmosphere in what is visually an unseeing world.

Laurie

removed the thanks info but kept the button and made location a required field, I will look at the Google map thing later
