So, which company made the first model kit?
Looking at the list down the right hand side of what models people are making got me wondering, who had the bright idea that started it all off.
I should imagine it was after Meccano.

From a Google search ...

Here are the pioneers who helped establish the hobby:
  • Frog "Penguin" (1936): The widely accepted first-ever plastic model kits, initially marketed as non-flying "Penguin" miniatures.
  • Revell (Early 1950s): They revolutionized mass-produced consumer plastics in the U.S. with their 1/32 scale "Highway Pioneers" car kits and their first aircraft model.
  • Airfix (1950s): Starting with their famous 1/72 scale Golden Hind ship, Airfix popularized assembleable construction kits in the UK and globally.

Meccano is a British brand of construction set created in 1901 by Frank Hornby in Liverpool, England
