Computers, don't you just love them.

Not being computer literate, but as I can't do any modelling at the moment, and as still strapped up after my shoulder replacement op.

I thought I would have a mess around on my pc, and being offered Windows 10 upgrade for free, I thought I'd install it.

BIG BIG mistake, lost some programs & would no longer connect to my printer.

I spent hours trying to solve it all, in the end I restored back to my old windows 8.

Can't wait until I can get the hand/arm operating properly, and get kit bashing again.

Anyone else have W10 problems.

Gregg

I went from 8.1 to 10 and so far all is ok. Although there are some features of 8.1 I miss.

!

bit like you Gregg, not being computer literate, and have the free update,

pop up was thinking about it,but so so scary to do it,

and there is so much in win7 I,don't use and some ,I wish ,I could use,

I upgraded to windows 10 and I hated it. I couldn't find anything and I disliked it's format ...... So I went back to windows 8.

If it ain't broke don't replace it!!!!

Wife's. 50 now and says her work says they all updating to 10 but she says it's very complicated to get round.

Best comment she made the other day

" why do they always keep trying to improve the wheel? The hamsters not interested in new and fancy!!!

(Lights on but I don't think there's anyone home!!!! ) :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I went from Win 7 to 10 and I like it so far. My start up speed has decreased slightly.

I ran a business on a Commodore 124

Had to run it in a fridge when the temperature was high.

Then I got the first windows thing and realized computerization had gone backwards.

Upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 a few weeks back, pretty much hassle free so far.

Only issue had been trying to find the printer on the home network, that was fine until we replaced my wife's laptop which acts as the print server. She can use the printers but I cannot detect them still playing with the settings on her machine everything I find means they should be detectable.

A problem of Windows 10 is they messed with media player and tried to introduce an app you had to buy to watch DVDs, they reintroduced a free player but it is not compatible with all DVDs. But the VLC media player is free and works a treat, and there is no spider solitaire.

i'll pass until this laptop dies and im forced to buy a new one with 10 on it

always takes a year or two for them to iron out the bugs and people to come up with fixes for the glitches

It's funny, everyone hated 8/8.1 but those that got used to it now hate 10 which is like the older ones!

I put it on my laptop, all my laptop specific drivers are way too old and it works perfectly, actually better than 8 did and I liked that. It's like 7 but better and I lost nothing when it went in. I was sceptical as well!

Up dated recently from XP to Seven. Problem. Lost all the programs I had nurtured since windows 97.

Kept my laptop in XP.

There are a number of better things on 7 compared to Xp but a good number of things have been ditched on seven. Hence my reluctance to jump into 10. Also have been getting Ten thrown at me Free. Why ?

Laurie

my experience is the same as Dougie's. I went onto the Dell website and basically they were saying that my laptop was far to old to even be considered for updated drivers etc. So I went ahead and did the upgrade anyway and everything worked perfectly, all programmes, wireless, printer second screen, web cam. For anyone with one my laptop is a Dell Lattitude 4300 for anyone with one.

Be aware Laurie, that once MS stop writing updates for XP, it'll become very vulnerable to attack (even more so than it already is!) however, I agree that in an ideal world XP would still be a LOT of folks' choice! As to the "Why Free?" Well, we all know the answer to that! There's no such thing as a free lunch - but I prefer Sir John Benjamin's definition of "free" - fully included in the price! :D

went from windows XP to 10 and really like it, there were a few teething problems at first but soon sorted them out, everything has been working fine so far (touch wood) and since I sorted the start up menu out it fires up a lot quicker
