Pauline said while you were out Brian was on. Brian who says I. Windows computer expert man says she.

Oh what did he want. You says wife. Why me cause I told him I did not have a computer. Click the phone went she said. Rude man.

Phone rings this morning. This is Brian Windows man about your computer. Brian is from some where in Asia. Now I usually say things like but my computer is working fine. But says he. No I say and so it goes.

So before he could issue forth I said I do not have a computer. Deathly silence then click.

So to get rid of salesman that is the way. If some one is trying to sell you replacement windows or doors just say you do not use them.

oh you need to be very careful of these one Laurie,

as there able to get into your PC,and then all the fun and games start,

your done the right thing saying you don,t have one,but they will find it by your phone number, and hack it,

best to turn off when not in use or if,you get these calls, turn it straight off,is what I would do,

me I never answer the home phone as I hate telemarketers, which should not even be calling me with a

unlisted number, wait till it go,s to message and then can pickup if i need too, ;)

Last one of those I spoke to, I asked him if his children knew he was a liar and a thief.

this is a scam....they get you to give them romote access to your computer saying they can fix/upgrade it, then they rob you if you use online banking or paypal as they can get access to your account

i normally say 'which computer are you talking about as we have 2 laptop, a netbook and a tablet'....they will always say 'the one you are on now'....i will say 'its an apple, dosnt use windows so how you going to fix that?...gets them flustered.....then i tell them to go forth and multiply and put the phone down lol

i dont have an apple by the way, hate the things, im not a slave to fashion lol

Ultimately, if you allow it, these scammers can cause you a world of pain. There are loads of videos of people 'scamming the scammers'. This is one of my favourites. The 'victim' has set up a virtual computer so that even when the scammer gets nasty he's only being 'virtually' nasty :)

If you don't know what you are doing then cut them off right away.

Cheers

This phone and help thing I find remarkable that some can be so gullible.

These people must be making money from some loons or they would not

be doing it. They are not stupid.

Had to threaten a lot in London who were making my mother's life hell.

They kept turning up on the door step. Windows doors roof you name it.

Eventually traced them, not easy, and threatened them with court.

That ended it.

But what sort of human beings???? are these that can make an old lady in

her mid eighties stressed out. They are the dregs of mankind. They are

on the same level as thieves but with mental violence.

Most of these sales callers ask to speak to the home owner. Just tell them that the council owns the property and Bingo, they just hang up. Works every time. Regarding these computer calls, they are definitely scam. On answering, as soon as they mention Windows or computer, just tell them B_ll_cks! and hang up.

Cold callers are a royal pain in the proverbial.

We used to get a lot of them when we lived in Kent, the previous owner of our property had died several years previously and the house had been empty, but before he died he had made enquiries about uPVC windows. We got calls for him from double glazing salesman 4 or 5 times a week. They died down after in response to the question can I speak to Mr X I told them certainly if their company employed a medium.

Now we live in Belgium we have no landline and no cold calls. Absolute bliss.

Assume you mean bollocks Geoff. Took me a little time to work it out. The underscores hung me up.

They use a shotgun, or what one famous Aussie hacker calls the 'nukes from space', approach. They call thousands of people on the basis that if even a handful fall for it, they'll make their money.

They are utter scumbags.

I have to confess to trying to waste as much of their time as possible if I'm feeling particularly bored. Unfortunately none have called me recently :)

All is not lost Steve.Give me your phone number and I will round up some beauties for you.

Just let me have your preferences, windows, boilers, pavings, kitchens or even computers

Last time I had him going in circles trying to work out where my start button had gone - then I mentioned (10 minutes in) that I was on Linux and would that make a difference? Well it gave me a happy feeling anyway.

Try asking them for the second digit of their security pin number
Best fun is when the bank call. They ask for security mother's name Fanny's dress colour etc. I stop them there and ask them how do I know who they are. Goes silent.

Laurie

if she is here the next time i shall give the phone to the 6 year old grand daughter and tell its santa calling for her :D :D:D

Yes Laurie. Didn't want to spell it out in case of children looking in, some forums are strict on certain words being posted.

I get them on my work phone and pretend they have reached a technical help desk (which is true to a point) and start bombarding them with questions about what is wrong with their aircraft, reg, location etc.

If they call my home number I just pretend to be really stupid......so acting normally! They soon get lost.
