Here's a nice photo, but whose the man on the left? He was very famous at the time.

The others are Willy Messerschmitt, Fritz Wendel, Lilly Stromeyer (Messerschmitt's future wife) Hermann Wurster and Willy Stor.

Cheers

Give Ron a banana!

Picture taken on 19th October 1938 at Berlin-Staaken. Lindbergh was supposed to fly a Bf 109 but there was a French military pilot (Detroyat) present and the Germans didn't want to let him fly the 109 and felt they would have to if Lindbergh was allowed to. Very polite, the Germans. They didn't want to offend the French pilot, but would be happy to occupy his country eighteen months later! The Frenchman told the Germans that the French had already tested a Jumo powered Bf 109 captured in Spain, but they still wouldn't give him a go.

Lindbergh finally got to fly a 109 at Rechlin two days later.

Cheers

"High Flight" Pilot Officer John Gillespie Magee RCAF killed 1941

Am I getting warm?

In the pictures I have seen he had really thick glasses...

Oh hang on a minute, that was Magoo. My bad.

I should have got him!

I've sent all my bananas to Ron :)

Here's an easy one, a suave young Leutnant circa 1917.

Cheers

Yes Ron correct. I looked at the face for about a minute and then realised who it was.

Looks quite a cheeky character there.
