Thanks Graeme,...been busy with Eehaw and that's near finished so I can concentrate on the Hurtgen Dio.

          Hi Guys,
More free time to concentrate on this Dio.
I gave the M10 a second coat of winter whitewash with chipping fluid and the results were much stronger.

I added new stowage to the rear to cover the awful tools... will add rope tie downs later.

If you haven't then it's the 30cal ammo box which wouldn't fit the 50cal ammo for the Ma Duce...how slip shot I was back in the old days. Will swop it with the right caliber box.
Meanwhile I also winter camo'd the M36 as well with a different scheme.

Pin wash and dirty stains with rust streaks coming up next.

          Cheers,

Yup loads of weathering using my concoction of oils, kerosene and turpentine. Seems to work just as well as the AK products and great to get back to them.
Here are shots of basic pin wash and rust. Chipping will come next and final highlights. Trying very hard not to overdo it.

Great results mate. Like you I like to make my own but I must admit I haven't used kerosene what do you use it for ?

Thank you Scottie. Kerosene works similar to turpentine, the difference is that it is petroleum based as opposed to turpentine being plant based I think but they seem to mix quite well and dissolves oils. I find kerosene dries faster and mixed better. I use turps to blend any tide marks or create streaking or spreading rust stains. Together they dry faster. Succatine does that too but too much of it cracks the oils when it dries. An effect I would experiment at a later time.

Thanks Richard... always weird replying to my name.😅 This Academy M10 and the M36 I believe is a copy of the old Tamiya mold which share the same wrong proportions as opposed to the new molds by AFV. The track links are a dead give away.
I bet you can recreate those dios now after all these years.

I wish i could Wabble. For my sins i spent the late 80s and most of the 90s hardly doing any modelling apart from the odd aircraft model.Worked long days 6 days a week and rest time was spent having a few beers. The kits are there in the stash but lacking in mojo a lot.I enjoy admiring others work and hope that it can ignite the interest. My wife says she likes me doing my figures and likes it if i do a little vignette.I Must have over 80 figures in my stash!!.Individual 54mms and boxes of Dragon figures and then there are the resin ones!!!.
