I do not think that this fellow will harm the harmony. For me he has shown himself the guy for

    what he is.

In fact like all things the strength of a friendship is to strengthened by knowing how we all feel

and accept that we all have differences of opinion. Look Patrick and I have a lot of differences

as we are very much opinionated. But I think we have a good respect for each other. He writes

about my replies I write about his. I hope he enjoys as much as I do. I have learnt a lot form him.

I do think this forum is a bit deeper than model making it is about friendship.

Perhaps I should keep my opinions to myself. Lesson learnt.

Si now then. You glue anything together. Then distort it. Then hammer it. Cover it with anything in your garden. Then produce a masterclass dio.

Where does the plastic bit occur ?

The Apache is doing a dance which is not very nice. He is not happy

Only thing I understand about this thread is sticking plastic bits together. It only takes one person to cause a problem.

Discussion is good but it can come over as aggressive. Compared to my model rail site this forum is very polite and that is to the credit of the members and the forum owners.

+1 to that. We have had issues and things have gotten out of hand, but what do you expect, we are all human that have to convey feelings with words and silly little smiling sprites. Sometimes it gets heated and blown way out of meaning...luckily, most of us have our say and then go back to wrecking plastic.

No don't Dave! I hope that you haven't taken what I said in the wrong way.

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, it's just that I feel Doog's motivation has been somewhat misrepresented.

Had he been the one who started the thread, then perhaps he might have had some hidden agenda. But he didn't - in fact he's simply replied to stuff said about him without his knowledge. To my mind he's been a good sport about it all.

Although this is a forum for model making, we're also friends - it's what sets this forum apart from the others IMHO.

So Dave, please feel free to express your thoughts & ideas!

Since I started this thread let's put this all to bed boys. Moderator please block this thread. I think we've seen enough opinions already

Thanks for Doogs to join our lovely forum, and sorry for any inconvinience caused, and please do stay around.

Well you can either get upset when total strangers bash you with lazy insults and dismiss what you're saying without even reading, or you can laugh. I choose to laugh. Some of the comments were even humorous.

Clearly, you're not a fan. You've made that abundantly clear from your first reply in this thread. And you know...that's totally okay.

Thank you, John! Though based on the pre-reception I've received I hope you'll understand if I'm not wholly convinced of the "friendly" part. As to the article, lively discussion was the goal, so glad to hear it!

Let's review how this came about. I was looking through my referral traffic and saw a little spike from this here forum, so I decided to check it out. This happens from time to time and more often than not I'll find someone on a Lithuanian or Vietnamese or [insert country of your choice] has shared one of my posts. Maybe it's Google Translate sparing my feelings, but those usually aren't four pages of insults in absentia.

Should I have just moved on? Probably. But I have this thing about engaging my critics - often it's a futile exercise, but every so often it yields great discussion and ongoing conversation. Call me an optimist.

As for the forum, I didn't even know it existed until a few days ago and have zero interest in blowing anything apart, but thank you for the vote of confidence.

Please don't close this thread, it smacks, at worst, of censorship, or at least an admission that a load of grown-ups can't just agree to disagree. Bottom line? Some blokes don't totally see eye to eye on a discussion that others do agree with, they can just stop reading it? Nobody got hurt....

Agree entirely John. I have found it very interesting and it is rare for a subject, which has

travelled in depth way beyond the the realms of Doogs piece, not to disintegrate into a

                              few nasty remarks etc.

I have been quite surprised at the divergence of opinion which has been made. I would

not have guessed at that. As you say John and it sums it up "no body got hurt".

I've got to say that there is a preponderance of german WW2 subjects, and I do think it's skewing the market a little in that I suspect most modellers are modellers first, and will build anything they can get hold of, rather than hold out for their favoured subjects...

....But to infer some sort of neo-nazism from the aforementioned seems,...well, odd.... And he kind of shot himself in the foot a bit, when he then went on about solely US subjects, and carefully ignored the paucity of british subjects. (Older Airfix kits, notwithstanding)

Still, it's his opinion, and he's entitled to it- but like others upthread, wish he wouldn't swear quite so much though.

The 'attaboy' blog was interesting though, and interestingly, somewhat less sweary. I kind of agree with him there- Much as I appreciate (and I do, very much) the very kind comments from fellow members, I wouldn't mind some constructive comments- I'm always looking to improve, and am always willing to learn.

....Obviously, criticism has to be constructive, and we must be responsible and sensible when writing it, but I can't see the harm.

Maybe, the answer is a 'critique corner'- I'm sure I've seen such a thing on another 'site. But please, if you spot something I could do better- tell me... nicely
