A Zwilling in 1/32 Wow that would be a monster! I do know there was a resin conversion for 1/48 at one time but I ca'nt remember who put it out?

A much safer bet to be able to smuggle past the customs inspector....(the wife).

Just purchased the Big Revell Heinkel. First impressions are good. Decals are for 3 machines:-
Heinkel He 111P-1 of 5./KG 54 "Totenkopf-Geschwader", Coulommiers, France 1940 (the version I will eventually build and depicted on the box art and presumably took part in the BoB)
Heinkel He 111P-1 of III./KG 27 "Gescwader Boelke", Delmenhorst, Germany, 1940
Heinkel He 111P-1 of II./KG 5 "General Wever' (preserved at the Norwegian Aviation Museum Gardemoen, Norway)
Detail looks good, perhaps the panel lines are a bit over done but none-the-less I will enjoy building this one.
And it will be BIG - nearly 71cm long with a wing span of over 51cm!
When I get round to building it I'll try and keep you up to date with the progress.
Cheers

III./KG 27 were at Delmenhorst from 1/5/39 until 1/9/39. They then moved to Wunstorf for the battle of Poland in October 1939. They relocated to Rennes in July 1940 and flew against us in the Battle of Britain.
5./KG54 were at Coulommiers in July 1940 but according to my information they had converted to the Ju88A by then Mmmmmm! You can have them with the He111 up until early June 1940 at Gutersloh back in the fatherland.
Finally there was no KG 5. Either Revell or your good self has made a typo! II./KG 4 "General Wever" was indeed based in Norway,at Oslo, under Luftflotte 5 for about a month in April 1940.
Cheers

That's torn it!
I'll probably do a lot of digging before starting and try to get it right. By the time I start there'll probably be a whole raft of aftermarket decals as well!
The typo is totally Revell's (if it is one) - this info came straight off the instruction sheet.
As an aside, I've just noticed it's for sale in the forum shop. Sorry John, it was a bit of an impulse buy in Modelzone if I'd have spotted it I'd have purchased it from your good self.
cheers
Paul
Ps. Just watching the 'Battle of Britain' which seems pretty coincidental!Comment

The KG 54 thing is just a matter of timing but again this information has been available for years.
I'm watching the BoB too, typing this in an ad break.

Well it seems as though KG 27 is the way forward (shame though cos the Totenkopf decals are pretty cool). Even then it is possible that the paint scheme of the KG 27 aircraft could have been changed before the BoB as the Balken Kreux look to be from an old scheme.
Just watching a few being shot down on telly! The BoB is a seriously good wartime aerial flick! I doubt you could do much better even with all the CGI of today, and the actors are serious greats

Cheers Steve, but there seriously isn't any rush I doubt whether I'll get round to this build this year! If you are looking though I'd be grateful for any info.
...Goering is just dressing down his pilots... Galland: 'Give me Spitfires!' (which I'm led to believe isn't strictly true)

Well he claimed he said words to that effect. He also claimed, later, that it wasn't the aircraft itself but its freedom of manoeuvre he was alluding to. Possible, because in 1940 Galland considered the Bf109 to be a better aircraft than the Spitfire as did most Luftwaffe fighter pilots. A quick look at RAF losses after the BoB,as it tried to operate accross the channel, makes it easy to understand why they thought that.
