Well I have just ordered a modular system for the new man-cave, from here:

        http://www.hobbyzone.pl/en/12-modular-workshop-system/

        Here is a graphic:

I have not ordered all the modules above but I will have three rows extending around two corners but without one side stack and no triangular end bits.

Each module is 6" high, 6" deep and 12" long (approx)

I will have one corner top and three straight tops to fit Vallejo size bottles (156 bottles in all), the tool rack, and shelf corner top unit.

The two rows below will include two corners with drawers, two corners with shelves, a few large drawer units, small drawer units, shelves and a kitchen roll holder.

In all its about £231 including shipping from Poland and they estimate 3 to 6 days!! I thought it might be weeks and I will not be ready to set it up until long after it arrives.

It will sit nicely alongside my spray booth.

In respect of cost, yes it looks a bit pricy but when I looked at the cost of a range of other solutions its not bad at all.

If you look at my plan posted previously you can see where it fits.

I will have the need to keep one of my existing paint racks for pigments/metalisers/washes which will fix to the wall to my right.

I rather like nice environment to build.

That looks like a neat system. I keep all my paints etc in a set of draws under my bench. I doesn't bother me that I can't see them without opening the draws. Most of the other stuff is in a cupboard, out of the way, the other side of my spray booth.

I think the most important thing is to allow a decent size of work top. I have fairly limited space, though I know I'm more fortunate than some, and decided that I would make that my priority.

I know we've posted images in another thread, but here's one I've just taken to show what I mean.

You can never have too much space to work in and I do believe an effort to fit the biggest practical work top into whatever space you have is something you won't regret !!!

          Cheers

          Steve

I totally agree about space Steve and I have certainly got that with my set-up. More in fact than I have now which is itself quite a bit.

Wow, lucky man Barry. That garage looks much better with a lick of paint. I established a little workshop under our house, but I need to reorganise and build something more purposeful like you have planned. So neat and tidy, just as it should be. Hope you enjoy the new house

Gavin - the cold bothers me, I just cannot function if I am cold and the winter is good build time. But I have a plan....

2 or 3 small oil filled radiators, one in the main part of the garage which in the coldest periods will be left on all the time to keep the worse of the chill off and one or two (I will see how it goes) in the workbench area. I will also have a fan heater on standby to give the space a blast of hot air to get temperature up to a comfiortable level when needed.

I also, before next winter, will get something to cut down on the draft coming through the garage door. I dont know what yet so if anyone has any ideas? The garage will rarely if ever be used as a gaage incidentally but I don't think I can get a more permanent solution like a stud wall inside the garage door past the missus.

I am planning a moveable partition as well to sit between the workspace and the main garage that has thermal properties, as that may help keep more of the heat in the area where I will want it.

I have one further development... 1/32 scale aircraft do take up a lot of room and the missus does not want them in the living areas.... I realy cannot understand her idea of decor!

Anyway. I am getting some 15" deep shelving in the garage, high up in the workspace area a the height of just above the rear windows. It will extend to the sides as well, 93" back wall and 46 1/2 to each side. That will give me a fair bit of space plus my current display selves should fit in the garage. I may even get the high shelving extended down one wall stopping just short of where it would clash with the garage door opening. If I get that I recon I will have display space for over 50 1/32 scale aircraft in all.... enough to keep me going for, what, 10 years!!!

I love the modules and I don't think they are over priced.

It looks like they make Ammos racks, most of their pictures have Ammo products displayed.

Those modular units are really good. I will certainly consider them if I change to a proper desk/bench.

Oooh, great minds think alike - I'm concidering a hinged partition wall or similar - light weight stud frame with insulation & thin ply skin or equivalent (which ever is the cheapest). When working this can be deployed and the space readily warmed and then folded back flush with the wall when the car needs to be tucked away.o_O
