Simon T - a very sad announcement

Just read this thread, such very sad news. M\y condolenses to his family ag this very difficult time for them.

like many I know hiim form the old MM forum and agree - he will be missed.

RIP Simon,
I have only this morning found out that Simon has crossed the bar...... A few days ago John asked me for his telephone number as I had the privilege of meeting Simon when I bought his Minis from him. I also met his father just before he died. It is a great shock, life if so precious and fragile.

Didn't know Simon and never really interacted, being in to different subjects, but it brings home just how fickle life is and wanted to extend sympathies to his family.

Good bye MrT, you will be sadly missed by many, myself included.

I first encountered MrT right back when he joined MM many years ago. His skill and enthusiasm was second to non and it was his influence that encouraged me to start scratching parts and improving my builds.

After seeing his work it wasn’t long before I got the bug and started to source pewter sheet and numerous tools and equipment.
We had a similar interest in the PzII Ausf L (Luchs) and the Sdkfz 222-223’s and he was kind enough to take the time to share his litterateur and discuss the subjects in depth with me via email. I know he had numerous Sdkfz 222-3’s in various scales as they where one of his favourite vehicles.

Who could forget the Tamiya StuG IV kit that was chopped into quarters and pretty much rebuilt from plastic card pewter and lashings of Squadron green. Then there was the infrequent scalpel related injuries, falling asleep mid modelling and disastrous paint jobs that left us all feeling anguish. But he rarely gave up, just putting things to one side for later and starting something else.

Rest in peace MrT.....gone but NEVER forgotten.

Very sad news indeed. Mr. T was never afraid to take on any sort of model building and he was at his best correcting and converting the many less than accurate vehicles that he took on. We are all a little less off for this loss.
