Parts I need for my Sherman V: T49 tracks plus (in the grid-paper box) ammo boxes. I recently mentioned I would like to build a Dewoitine 520, and noticed the RS Models kit on the site where I ordered the tracks and boxes, so I decided to add it, plus paint for it as I found suitable French colours mostly lacking in my paint drawers.

My only concern Lee is the metal damaging the plastic when tightened. I thought of putting foam pads on the vice grip plates. What are your thoughts/experiences??

I have had a small Record vice like that for about forty years Steve. You can get fibre grips to go on them to stop the jaws marking the work surface. However, i just use two bits of smooth aluminium angle when necessary. I rarely use it for plastic. It’s mostly used on etch brass or other metal stock. The vice screw is well made so it is easy to control the clamping pressure when you do need to hold plastic. The best feature is that you can quickly remove it from the desk edge when it isn’t needed. I would say it’s one of the tools I couldn’t do without.

As most of us know Tamiya and Mr Color are terrible when brushed, did some research and seems adding this makes a bug differance, i will see!

Still nearly £4 cheaper than from UK The picture is a bit dramatic, the derricks were always stowed at sea & only rigged when about to work cargo.

O.K. Lee, time to take your "Adult" pill.......Matron is standing by to give you the "Booster" as well. This takes me back to a time before I got my first pimple......well maybe not that far but definitely mid 60's!
Looks like they were both designed to be easy on the pocket book, even back then. Have fun "kid".....I'll be following to see how you get on with these. Rick H. :thumb2:

If I have to Rick. I’ve been off my meds for sometime now but let me finish these then I’ll go back to the Dark Side if Matron can catch me. They are a simple build and I’m hoping they go together as well. What’s that your saying about your first Pimple when these came out I thought you got your first Gray hair.

60c Wow those were the days Lee. Mind how much pocket money was the average back then. Kits weren't as complex as now , but still good.

Rick with grey hair, now there's a thought:smiling3::smiling3::smiling3:

Going to need a bit of thinking for this brute! - a base deep enough to accommodate a trench. ( Incidentally, it's the most I've paid for a single kit in many years, but I've been looking at this wistfully ever since it came out! )
