Hi Tim
Nice to know that model shops still exist. I look forward to the Goblins.

Nice haul Tim. I'm lucky enough to have a LHS within walking distance but his main focus is RC aircraft (including jets!!) and so his kit and paint stash is pretty limited. That said he does have lots of useful supplies and had just started stocking evergreen styrene.

That will be my second crack at the Goblins. I did that box a while back, but am going to go with some of the other options this time…..might be a while though.
As to model shops Jim, I have two that are closer, another that is about the same distance, and two more a little further away….pretty good coverage really. If I travelled about another ten miles I could bring in another half a dozen….. This is just model shops stocking plastic kits, by the way, there are also specialist model railway and figure shops and manufacturers nearby.
I think it’s because I live in a rural area and shop rates are more reasonable. ….

Good stuff Andrew. I used to have two when I lived in Salisbury, both plastic kit dealers. My closest now is very well stocked, especially paint, but I fancied a look somewhere else today, and I knew they stocked 28mm figures there as well.

This came in the mail today:

A resin kit of the Dutch Army’s M113 Commando & Verkenning (“Command & Reconnaissance”), the late model with 25 mm KBA gun. It’s limited run, and also available pre-built, but this is the kit version. I’ve wanted to build an M113 C&V for literally decades, but never did find the courage to scratchbuild it using M113 kit parts for the details (and I’m glad I didn’t after seeing this), so this kit was very welcome — if rather expensive …

True, and because it’s a fairly simple kit with few parts it may even get built sometime soon (but then, I think that about a lot of models … ). Fan Kit Models is a Romanian company that appears to make a variety of models, but they’re only the actual manufacturer here. This kit is actually sold by one Robert-Jan van Raamsdonk, who has released a whole range of resin kits/pre-built models of Dutch military vehicles (both armoured and soft-skin) that are apparently manufactured for him by Fan Kit. His main audience appears to be ex-servicemen who want models of the vehicles they used in the forces, hence the pre-built models, but he also sells them in kit form as I have here. Unfortunately, it’s all limited-run stuff, this M113 C&V (the only one I’ve bought) had a run of 50 kits, for example.

Just looked at their site. Some nice stuff especially at 1/72. I like the 1/35 Merc fire engine.

                                Morning all

So it turns out that having COVID is not only bad for your health to varying degrees but it's also bad for your credit card given the time you have to peruse the web because there isn't the energy to do anything else..... :tired: :tired: :crying: :crying:

These are actually a range of arrivals from the last three weeks or so, I've just not had a chance to post the pictures yet, plus every time I think I'm done something else finds it's way into the online basket.......

                                ATB

                                Andrew

                                ----------------------------------

So here goes.....and first up some 'general' items

Some paint mixing 'cups' of varying sizes to replace the plastic UHT milk pots I'd been using for years (should last a while!) and some foam to fix the cup on my 2nd hand scientific vortex mixer (new ones are c. £30 including delivery).

I also invested in some wooden and lint free cotton buds after seeing them used online. Since the move away from plastic stems to paper (for understandable reasons) I find the paper ones don't last five minutes once wet - these are brilliant though and it gives me an almost unlimited supply of wooden stakes when I cut the ends off!

I was looking for some 1/72 pilots for some of my planes. Airfix excepted, most don't seem to come with them and I think they bring a plane to life. Before Dave posted his pictures of cheap 3D printed ones he'd been using, I found these. They look very good in the packet - not that it's come out in the photo properly - plus the seller has VERY reasonable delivery prices

I wasn't looking for these but was 0.24 Euros short on the minimum order amount for some 109 decals (below) and so needed something very cheap to top up the order. I have an Airfix Tiffy in the stash and this only cost £1.75.

So next up some purchases specifically for my project 'The Hunters and the Hunted' (link HERE).

I need some decals because those in one of the Bf 109 G-6 Wilde Sau kits I have are from the wrong period - but more about that later.

So this is where it started to get expensive.....I had intended to by one Luftwaffe twin engined Nachtjäger to balance out the British planes.....

                                ...but ended up buying three.....:surprised:

A very big and heartfelt thank you goes to our own AlanG for advise on possible makes/models and in particular variants that I should look at - he came up with some I had missed. I want to make it absolutely clear that he did not in any way, shape or form induce me to but these - honestly he did not.....I had already decided get one kit and so I am entirely at fault for my lack of will power!! He has though recommended a book......

More details to follow but first up this.......I have read the reviews and so am well aware of what I have got myself into but at £7.57 incl. delivery (new from a hobby store) it has to be worth a punt. The box was a bit battered on delivery as you can see but it seems to be ok inside

This was a reasonable, if not cheap, purchase second-hand from Fleabay. Box is a bit tatty but looks very nice for it's 1991 vintage.

This was actually the first of the three kits I bought and is very nice indeed.....with unfailingly good reviews. New from a hobby store and at a reasonable price. And of course with all that glass on display a canopy mask was a must!
